Last time we met up at Highland mall parking lot, it was nice and empty and the security didnt bother us

actually funny story, while we were taking pictures one of the guys who was there, his batterie died and the security came and jumped it. so that might be a spot to meet up, since its close to I35 and Hwy 290. just my

I need to know if anyone is interested in getting a room for Saturday night?

I'd like to get a number of people so I can approach a few hotels and see about a discount rate.

If we stay downtown its more expensive compared to staying in the Roundrock area. Do you want to be downtown or not far from downtown?

Let me see a list of responses, from those that are on the contact list, if you need a hotel room and what your preference is, location to downtown or inexpensive not far away.

Talk amongst yourselves and maybe you can share the cost.

pimpin-tl - lets spend some time this week discussing routes. IM me or call my cell (in the list). I'd like for you to help finalize a route so we can get that posted for everyone.

I also would like feedback from ATXCLS on the final choice.

I want to make sure we have an easy start point. I like the Starbucks starting point that the Hill Country Drives group uses.

I need a room. I thought Chris down here was going to call since he said he had a hook up but I haven't heard from him. I am for downtown for one night is fine for me. Party on 6th street would be sweet. But its not a big deal if we aren't.

I live just south of Highland mall, it's a good meeting point for those who are unfimiliar with Austin.

btw: you don't have to find a hotel in round rock to save money, there are plenty of affordable hotels around town

While Highland mall may have a big parking lot, it is not situated well for a starting point for a drive. The Starbucks parkign lot at Great Hills Trail, across from the Arboretum, is easier to find than the mall, and is a great starting point for drives.

Mark, just let me know how many miles y'all want to go, if you want to include the Salt Lick for lunch/dinner, and where you want to end up, and I can work something out.

It's not just a Starbucks lot though, it is the lot for the entire shopping center (Rewards, and some other stores) and is often empty-trust me, I run monthly drives out of there for well over 25 cars

I have been to this parking lot as well and it usually very open lots of run and in a good spot to start a drive. It is where Hill country drives sometimes meet and they have many many cars. I think it will be a good spot to start from

all sounds good to me, but isn't the salt lick way down SW off of 290W. That's a little far from our 2222 lake path. I believe there's a good bbq place right on 2222 right before 360, just can't think of the name. As for the drive, 2-3 hours is easy to kill up in the hills. I'm not picky....lets drive!
I know of a few photo spots along 2222, hard to come by on a tiny 2 lane road.

nice hill spot right near the Oasis Restaurant (link only due to cluster f*ckin the thread)
spot has a nice curve to it and we can fit lots of cars in one picture
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...C_0032copy.jpg

and a HUGE parking lot on the lake on 620 a few miles before you hit lime creek road
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...C_0010copy.jpg

lake overlook...again near the Oasis

1 vote for any place EXCEPT Highland Mall. It is slightly ghetto and even worse for car lovers, there are grackels/crows all over the place at Highland Mall. Every time I go I see an insane amount of those black birds and would hate to see us all get pooped on

I can't 100% promise I'll be there, but I will certainly be keeping updated on this thread

I know of a few photo spots along 2222, hard to come by on a tiny 2 lane road.

nice hill spot right near the Oasis Restaurant (link only due to cluster f*ckin the thread)
spot has a nice curve to it and we can fit lots of cars in one picture

and a HUGE parking lot on the lake on 620 a few miles before you hit lime creek road

lake overlook...again near the Oasis

I think the reason why we said the salt lick is because we can do a nice long drive down there and then we can drive back. But if people do not want to drive that far then we need to know. That is why ATXCLS keeps asking how long people want to drive.

I just threw it out there knowing that all of the Dallas guys, and even them LA boys, LOVE The Salt Lick and want to go every time they are down here. Now, if y'all want to just stay around the lake, and the north-west side of the town, that is fine-plenty of nice twistys back there too.

By the way, those places look like great spots for some photos.
