Yea I have a pair of walkies as well that I will bring along. When were crusing on the freeway, we should have the cars with radar detectors to stay in the front. That way, if theres any alerts they can turn on the hazards to alert the rest of the group.

Hahah, I'm usually "Ben777" on most forums, because "Ben" is usually always taken.
777 is dual reference to the 777 airplane, and to hitting the jackpot on a slotmachine, haha.

I can't take credit for the group ideas. I've attended NSXPO before, which is the annual NSX Club Nationwide gathering, so I've seen first hand the issues for having a drive with 100+ cars. That's how we did it. Even on smaller Bay Area drives with 20 or so cars, we used that system too, and it works fairly well.

The NSX Club radios I was referring to are FCC licensed business band radios that the NSX Club has a license to operate on. Most NSX Club members have one, and that's how we keep in touch on drives. It's nice to have a clean channel that no one else uses, and longer range (up to 5 miles, I think) compared to the normal FRS radios. So, I know the NSX guys will be able to talk to each other, but not sure how we'd communicate with the rest of the group.

I was also a founding member of the Bay Area Legend group and Legend Forums back in 1996, so I have some experience in events that I could share from then.

FRS are those radios you can buy at sporting goods stores and Fry's. The ones that everyone uses on the ski slopes. Like the Motorola Talkabouts. They only have a 1 to 2 mile range.

I think that's what most people will have to use.

The NSX Club radios, because they are FCC licensed, can't talk to anything else but other NSX Club radios. I'll have them so at least the NSX guys can talk to each other, but I don't own an FRS radio, so not sure how I'd talk to the rest of the group.

Cellphone isn't really a viable option. Tried that back in '96 with the first Legend meets, and it takes too long to dial up, ring, wait for answer, etc. You need realtime, which only the radio can provide.
