Having what seems to be a common problem with my CL. I have a pool of water in my spare tire well after it rains. The water's coming down the driver's side along the underside of the top of the trunk, right by the hinge (see arrow on pic), but the hinge is not wet. I run my fingers along there and they come back wet. I've climbed in and can see it's coming through a weld, but I can't see what's right above it. I just replaced the trunk gasket and it didn't help.
I know one culprit is the sunroof drain tube getting clogged/disconnected but I've opened my sunroof when it's been raining hard and the tracks are completely dry. It could be the seal around the rear window, but the seal/gasket looks in tact and there's no water at all on the back deck where my speakers are.
Looks like it's the rear window seal. Poured water in the trunk channel and no leak, moved up to the lower part of the window and water's getting in. It appears as though the CL's don't have a traditional soft rubber gasket. Looks harder and think it has clips. Going to run some silicone around the area I suspect it's in and see if that does it. Not a permanent fix, but better than spending $200 - $300 to have that gasket replaced.
I think it's the gasket seal on the lower right corner of the rear windshield that is giving you the trouble. I have water accumulating in the plastic compartment where the jack sits.
I've taken a hose and poured water on the sunroof to see if there is any leaks, but there was none.
Then, I had my daughter direct the hose on the lower right corner of the rear windshield while I hid inside the trunk shut with a flashlight. I can see water dripping down from the 2 metal seams at the corner. This led me to suspect it's the seal that causing the leak.
Bump, hotclick56 I am having the same issue with the water accumulating in the area where the tools are located (floor compartment) in the trunk. I found water on my trunk plastic cargo tray and majority of the water is pulling into the open portion of the tool lid. hotclick56 did changing the seal near the rear windshield make a difference? Water is coming in from the metal seam on the passenger side of the trunk (top area), only that area is wet while everything else is dry. If anyone can give advice on fixing this issue it would be very helpful. Thanks

Hey, did the silicone work--did you apply to the area around the lower edge of the rear window, or the space between the window and the sheet metal of the vehicel? Do you have it on just the driver side of the trunk, or passenger side as well? Thanks!

I used GE silicone caulk applied to the rubber seal & it worked. I wasn't sure where exactly the leak was coming from so I applied it entirely on the rubber seal wherever it meets the metal surface.
I did the same thing I use clear silicone on the glass side and I used a black silicone around the outside near the sheet metal of the car I went all the way around the rear window and mine still leaking in the same spot. Ugh!
