Double Din Unit on 2011 TSX W/Tech

I want to install a double din head unit in my tech packaged TSX. I know I will lose the display for the temperature (I will take care of that later). Will the non-tech double din install kit work, or will I have to make something? I can change the original screen with something that will work with the new head unit, so I am not worried about that. Thanks!

Consensus says it's not possible. It's a lot of work. I'm sure if you can trace everything you need and have it work someway then go for it, as i would love to see this happen. But many have said they would but nothing as far as i know of has been done successfully. ELS has us in lockdown.

Great post on ELS bypassing and other words that I don't understand https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-...preamp-819501/

Are you going for better SQ or just want the modern toys? Phantom Audio can redo your stock amp to make it sound better so it still retains stock functionality. I haven't heard it personally but have spoken with him and he knows his shit.

I planned on molding a cradle into cavity where my stock screen is and magnetically attach for easy removal. and sticking an android tablet or ipad in there. but it's hot af and im lazy.

Good luck!

Today I finished installing a Kenwood head unit. It was more work that I planned on, but everything works. The stock GPS antenna plugs in to the head unit, that was the only part that was easy! I have my temperature display in the glove box now. I still need to make that look good, but I am very happy with the way the system sounds now. I am finally happy with the car

Have a few questions as I also wanted to attempt to add an aftermarket HU to the Tech package.

Does the factory rear view camera still work on the OEM screen?
Did you remove the DVD player and replace it with the non-tech pocket?
Any other concerns?

To have the temperature display, you need to have the OEM radio hooked up, because the display runs through the radio. So I wound up buying a radio display from ebay, and cutting the vent ports off so it would fit in the glove box. I had to drill a hole in the left side of the glovebox to get the radio wires ran, but I sized the hole to a plug that I have, so it will look stock when I am done and switch back to the factory setup. Because of this, I left the dvd player and radio in the bottom of the dash. I also left the OEM screen in place because my Kenwood unit could not utilize a second screen for anything except video playback. So I have the OEM camera and display working as normal.

I did take the GPS antenna connection out from the factory radio to use on my Kenwood, and plugged in an aftermarket GPS antenna into my factory radio. That way I have great GPS signal. I used an aftermarket antenna on the factory radio because when you disconnect the radio it will display the lost GPS signal screen until it can find itself again. So I can pull out the antenna that is tucked in behind the radio, get a signal, then tuck it back and out of sight.

You will need an antenna adapter that isn't very common. I will try to find what it looks like. It is not the typical Honda style. I didn't have it, so I soldered an adapter in place. I was too far into the project to wait for one to arrive.

I used a Maestro adapter for the steering wheel controls, it works perfectly.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I was really thinking of getting rid of the car because the factory radio was so bad, but now I am very happy. I have good sound

you back from vacation yet? I need to do mine! I’m so tired of this old headunit. Please explain in detail which headunit, harness and what frame for the headunit you used as the ones online say they aren’t compatiable with navigation.
