Renew XM Radio for $77 for 12 months (Part 4). See sticky for Part 5.

And now, back to our program which is already in progress:
First... call and make sure they are not going to auto renew you and charge your credit card. Have your radio code and call the customer service number. Tell them you want to let it expire because it's too expensive at full rates.
Then, they might offer you the $77 deal. If so, skip the rest of these steps and take it. If not, hang up after making sure it will not auto renew.
After it cancels, then call in with the script about having gotten a flyer. See the scan of the previous flyer posted HERE .
SCRIPT FOLLOWS:
Then call the 800-682-4114 number and read the script: "Hello. My subscription to XM Radio has expired but I just got a flyer with a special offer. I would like to take advantage of this offer for $77 for a year.
The old promotion code, "zwinback", according to recent posters who secured the deal, is no longer needed. If they ask for the radio code, give that to them. They WILL ask for it because that's the only way they can turn it on. If you had, in fact, gotten a flyer, it would have your radio code printed on it so have it handy. You can always get your radio code by tuning your XM radio to channel 0.
If at first you don't succeed, try again. Most people get it on the first try but others required 2 or 3 calls to different Customer Service reps.
Yes, you CAN get it over and over again. Many of us are on our third year at $77. But NOTE: This is not a front door, well known promotion. It is a quiet deal to get old customers back who have canceled. If you jump on the phone and say that you heard about this deal on the Internet/Acurazine, you might just kill the Golden Goose. Be considerate of those coming behind you.
Lastly: as you will read, the SCRIPT works. If you don't follow it, you're on your own. Take the time to read the instructions for best results.

Still good as of 5/14/07 10am CST
I'm still wondering if you can use it for other cars. My GF has a Scion TC and it has XM. By the questions she was asking me I'm almost positive you can. I think I will test it out. Anyone know for sure though before I make an A$$ of myself?

As of 16 May 2007 It Still Works
I just extended my 3 month trial subscription by one year for $77. I called the 800-682-4114 number and said I would like to take advantage of the special offer for $77 for a year.
They didn't even ask for the promotion code, "zwinback". I confirmed my contact information and gave them my radio code, and they processed my credit card transaction and turned my radio back on--all within five minutes.
You guys saved me $65.44. Not bad. Thanks!

My 3 month trial subscription was also expiring on 5/27/07. Called last night and mentioned i had this flyer laying around somewhere for a promo of $77 or something like that. She said no problem, verified my contact info, asked for my CC # and that was it.
I'm not sure i would keep XM at the regular price but for $77 I'm happy. Let's see if we can do this again in a year.

Just called and talked to an extremely nice woman. Told her I wanted a 77$ yearly deal She said it went up... to 77.70 They are also throwing in a portable sat. radio for 5.99 if you want it. She was pretty nice and said that most calls today are threatening to cancel their subsriptions due to the program being pulled with the two guys. Anyways.. Still works!

New Flyer
I have a recent copy of the flyer, but nowhere to host the file right now. If someone wants to take this on, let me know and I'll send you the scan.
It's pretty much the same as the old one, just a different phone number and a few other little things different.

Just FYI, I think for some of us old users, they may have caught on. I called back multiple times (on the 800-682-4114 #), followed the script to the letter. The reps were very helpful until they got to the final step and then they said "oh, you signed up for the $77 deal in May '06. It can only be used 1 time". The first couple times I said forget it and called back. The last lady was very nice and said she didn't know how to apply again but would ask her supervisor. Came back and said there was no way to do it but that she would send me to another department that handled people with issues such as this. I basically got transferred to the Cancellation dept. They at first acted like they couldn't do anything. When I said that I would go ahead and cancel, I thought they were going to let me. She then said that they would give me the $77 deal for one more year and that was it. She was not very friendly and told me like I was a child that by no means would I get this deal next year and that I would be automatically renewed if I did not call back and cancel next year. She wasn't rude, I just mean that she was talking to me like I had done something wrong.
Maybe I didn't try enough times, but that was a lot harder than last time!

Worked for me just now. Used the script and the rep was very nice. Have a 2004 TL I bought in March. XM expired in April. Still showed previous owner on account. Changed to me and gave me the $77 deal. No fuss. Thanks Acurazine!!!!!!!

Worked again for me for $77 (3rd year in a row!).
I called the main service number (866-409-1996) and told operator #1 I wanted to cancel. I was transferred to account services department and told them I wanted to cancel the account for cost reasons. After standing firm on the cancel commitment the operator #2 paused and explained to me that he could offered me the $77/year plan again.
All in all, fairly easy but it did take ~15 minutes of phone time.

XM Renewal
Called the number - no problems - didn't ask for promo code. Even though the promtions ended 1/31/2006, they still offer it. $ 77/year for XM and $ 3.99/mo for Nav Traffic

I called the other day and said I wanted to cancel because it was getting to expensive and there are more commercials. She asked me to hold for a minute then transferred me. She then offered me $77 for the year. I didn't have to ask for anything.

Questions answered!
I just called in for my brother-in-law for his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck. His three month trial had expired.
I called the number and I read the script as posted here.
The girl did not ask for a promotion code; only the radio code.
She then took my credit card information.
Then, she offered me an XM radio receiver with a vehicle kit, a docking station complete for $ 5.99. That involves a second subscription which was $84 a year.
That's all there was to it.
To those of you who insist on winging it with your own approach, good luck. Some of you get it and some of you don't. I prefer to use the tried and true methods that work nearly every time.
The only thing we ask is that you don't go all cavalier like they owe you the deal and tell them that you heard about it on the Internet or on Acurazine.
I have said this dozens of times: this is not a well-known, up front promotion. Many of the Customer Service Reps don't even know about it until they check it out with a supervisor. If XM suspects this promotion is being bandied about the Internet, they could slam the door.
We want to tread softly so that we do not kill the Golden Goose. Please be considerate.

Renewed for a 2nd time
Just renewed for a 2nd year at $77. For all you "repeat offenders", be prepared for the following.
I was asked not only for the promo code, but also a "Savings Code". The rep said it was an 8 character # that appears on the letter. I said the only thing I see is the zwinback promo code. She forced the issue an said she could not do anything unless I had the savings code. I repeated that I only had the promo code and nowhere on my letter did I see a savings code. She realized that I was not going to hang up until she honored the $77 price...so she did!!!!
Have not been billed yet, but I believe it will be at the $77!!!

Easy annual renewal at $77 rate
Well, that was certainly easy! After receiving a letter notifying me that my annual subscription (received last year at the $77 rate) would continue on a quarterly basis at $38.85 every quarter, I called the main XM number (1-800-XM-RADIO) and told "Lee" that I wanted to cancel if this is the best rate I could get. She quickly transferred me to "David"; when I told him I wanted to cancel unless he could give me a better rate, he quickly offered to renew me for one year at the same rate, $77 per year. The whole process took less than 4 minutes and was quite pleasant! I didn't have to argue, give any codes, etc. Couldn't have been a better process! Thank you, Acurazine, for two years in a row of savings!

You can still use the Opie/Anthony thing. You don't need codes or promotions, just say the word cancel, or not renewing. The first offer he asked if a free month would help me stay. I asked how that would possibly help, given thats the time they suspended opie/anthony. He then offered 3 months. I asked what a year was right now, he said 1/2 price. So, i got three months free and a year for 77 dollars.

Worked today, followed the script, but the lady did ask for the promotion code so I gave her "zwinback" and she ran it through. There were offering an Audiovox XM radio for $15.99 as well as the other deal for $5.99. Thanks again for the script!!!

Just called today and said I'd like to cancel my contract after it expires, when they asked why and if there was anything they could do, the only stipulation I allowed was if my current contract could be renewed for the same 77/yr rate. They did so without any trouble.
