New Color: North Carolina Pollen Blue Pearl!

Believe it or not, there's a beautiful Fathom Blue Pearl TLX under all that North Carolina pine pollen! And I had just hosed her off the night before! I used to enjoy gazing lovingly at my beautiful new ride from the kitchen window until the pollen started descending.

I'm a sucker for a dark blue car, but they are dirt magnets, even without the pollen. Our previous cars were/are silver and white- much more forgiving.

Oh know, I hate that stuff. It just drives me nuts trying to keep your car clear, and I have the Black color.

The car desperately needs to be waxed, but I can't do it now without rubbing pollen into the finish and scratching.

the more pollen the less guilty you feel for not washing it for a few weeks.
let it ride...

We bought the car on March 15 and the pollen levels finally dropped enough for me to wash and wax it this past Thursday afternoon:

By the next morning, it already had a fine sheen of pollen on it, but at least the paint now has a layer of protection. Until recently I didn't realize how nasty pollen is for a car's finish. It has a high acidity that erodes paint- even more so when it's wet. When a grain of pollen manages to land in one of the tiny pores of your car’s paint it begins to wear it down. This can lead to staining and early oxidation of the paint. Wiping it off, even gently with a soft cloth, will scratch the finish. Here's what it looks like under a microscope:

I am also North Carolina based. I just don't wash my car until May lol. As you said it just goes back to yellow the next day.

Same here. GSO area. Pollen, pollen, pollen. And, just as a kicker, we get these quick showers that do nothing more than allow the pollen to stick to the car rather than blow off... Gotta love it!!!
