mobile cd player

I have a LG slim mobile CD player I wanted to play in my 2021 tlx. Is there a way, it has said it does not recognize the device when I plug in into the usb port. I still love some CD's and want to play them when I'm driving. Is there a way?

Thumbs up Mobile CD Player

Hello, im sure if there is a way, But, it all comes down to the Audio System that is pre comfigured on TLXs down the road from 2021+. I happen to own a 2023 TLX Aspec and i had the same questions. Upon digging a bit more i came to find out the system configuration on tlxs and most Acura Products is Android Based ( 5.1.6 to at least to my knowledge to present time ). So is basically android custom mixed with own Honda/Acura in house software/hardware. In order to use the USB for external device such a cd/usb stick, the system must have pre configured routines/drives that recognize the device. If you remember both usb inside the center console/arm rest, Only one accepts external usb devices and the other on is a usb charger 5v 1amp max charger port. The ideal is that the USB port used for UPDATES to the system also can be use for an external CD unit ( since it does reads usb sticks and is used for apple car play and android auto ). I assume the way is pre- installed from factory either does not recognize the CD unit, nor it does have subroutines or drivers to even properly read it from , much less play its audio files. Maybe Future updates may allow the onboard system to play cd's, or if any custom mod allow us to use the USB por for an external device other than a USB Flash Storage Unit.

The 2023 Type-S I just bought has an AUX in port between the 2 USBs. A cable between the Headphone out and AUX in should work. Of course that means you are running the CD player on batteries…but perhaps the best you can do.

You Know Scott makes a good point, For an external device such a CD player you need extra power so the 5v USB charge only should be enough to power the device. Anyhow it also depends if Android Based infotainment is able to see the device itself. I don't have a portable CD player like yous, but i happen to have an external DVD/CD/RW unit that may work. i ll give it a try and post my results later.

Thank you all for replying. I will go soon to the Custom Car Audio where I live to see if they can figure it out. My Acura system updated the other day with a big update (took 20 minutes) so maybe it will work now, I will try again. I have an I phone if it matters, I've never owned an Android.
