Yeah shame on them for the N55 opening day stinker. Was nice to see them clean up the F series act. Still an N55 but one fix was to open the turbo inlet from 3.5" to 4". In 2015 the car grew to 3739 lb still at 300BHP:
Zero to 60 mph: 4.6 sec Zero to 100 mph: 11.9 sec Zero to 120 mph: 18.0 sec Standing ¼-mile: 13.3 sec @ 105 mph

What's the chance of Acura fixing the Type-S?
There’s more a likelihood of the Type S being discontinued than being updated in any substantial way. Honestly, could picture this being the final TL/TLX generation anyway.
Saw one out in the wild and it is gorgeous. Pricing in Canada is $75K and $85K all in🤯. I'm assuming that they don't haggle and MSRP is what you pay.
Yes, they don’t discount off of MSRP (at least not yet anyway), but they were very reasonable with the offer they made on the 2019 RDX that I’m trading in. Car will be ready on Saturday.

the tlx is actually a hit for Acura as far as sales. There is no way this is the last generation. They put too much RD into this vehicle.

Agreed 100%. …..and the reviews on this product are far more positive than that of the 1G….and pretty favorable in general. (I was just baiting the prevailing narrative in this subforum. )
Acura is selling almost 3K units per month...why would it be discontinued. Better sales numbers than IS, A4, G70, and American brands. In this tough sedan market, Acura is able to push 3K units is impressive.
The 2012 is a manual tho. Auto would have been just as quick as type s. I’m not going to blame it all on the weight for the type s. The GT2 stinger AWD is 4157 lbs only 40lbs lighter. And only 10hp more n 21tq more at 365hp/376tq. But it’s times are much quicker with a much higher trap speed @108. This is with no 1ft rollout either. Car and driver wasn’t doing it back in 2018.

You got a point.....yes the Stinger is quite faster (and actually two gears short in its transmission)....only 103 mph trap speed at the 1/4 mark is quite bad for the TLX Type S......only 2 mph faster than the 4G TL SH-AWD 6MT from 2009.....12 years ago....

Curious if 3G TLX will be full EV? 6/7/8 years out from 2G intro would be 2026/7/8

Yes the trap speed is way to low. Shit a 2.0t accord traps 100 in the 1/4. I think the problem is that Acura did not underrate the 3.0t motor. It’s 286whp is exactly 354 crank hp. The stinger dynos at 320-330whp. So it’s really like 380-390 crank hp. Every other car in the segments motors are underrated too. The Germans are the most underrated especially the m340i. In this segment your motor has to be atleast slightly underrated. Have to keep up with the competition.
When the stinger came out in 2018 it had the second highest hp number in the segment only behind the redsport 400. The 340i was like 320hp…..the c43 was 362hp…….s4/s5 we’re the same still at 354hp. Acura knew it’s competitions specs should have came out swinging with like 415-420hp. Especially since it’s weight. Still wouldn’t have been the quickest in the segment but would damn sure compete.

Be interesting to see if they crested the hill. Think the last report posted was down to 2800 from 3300? Our two Acura dealers have 5 Type-S between them. One, Hendrick just went to 0% interest on ILX & TLX.

...I liek the new TLX quite a lot (I saw two of them today on the road) but, to be fair, you did not need much to do better than the disastrous 1G.....

The Acura dealer I just bought my TLX from had a total of 21 new cars on the lot - 7 of which were TLX's (they have 5 now as someone was buying an A-SPEC at the same time I was) - however the website shows something like 30 TLX's as they're putting cars they have on order on the site.
I asked about the Type S and my sales guy said they pre-sold their allotment before they hit the lot.
Both Acura and Honda (my wife bought a new Pilot last week) were offering 0.9% which certainly helps.

Between Hendrick & Lieth they have 5 Type-S & 66 TLX models on the lots. Hendrick is offering 0% on ILX TLX Lieth has no loan rates posted.

Well no one can guarantee a set sales numbers per month. Sales will be up and down and at the end of the year. Also, July and August tend to be slower for most of the businesses. In terms of interest rates, it's all part of the game. So far, TLX is doing well....what the future holds for TLX, I cannot say much. Only time will tell us.
Finally had a chance to go sit in a G70. What’s up with the ridiculous lack of rear legroom in both the G70 and TLX?? If buyers of either car really don’t intend to have passengers back there, why not just get a 2-door coupe or something? It’s just bizarre.
Yeah, they really pulled out all the stops on this one. I got the Sport Plus (which I believe is called Sport Prestige in the US) and it just has everything you can imagine in terms of tech and features. 375 hp isn’t too shabby either. Picking it up in a few days and will post a few pictures then.
Nice, congrats on your GV. I took the kids to an autoshow in Boston when they introduced the GV80 and fell in love with it. However, the wife does not like the Korean brand (yet) and we missed the chance on an Audi before. We ended up with a Q8 Prestige. Those GVs look so nice, I don't care what people say, but I like those new steering wheels.

Yeah no crystal balls. Was just commenting on an other post that in addition to the 5 Type-S they have 66 TLX between them with one running 0% financing. Maybe they are trying to burn off 2021 inventory. Did not look at the MY of the TLX's

Because there are people like me who don’t care about backseat room. If they had made a coupe I would have bought it. But give the mothership credit. They differentiated the Stinger and G70 by making the Stinger much bigger yet with all the good stuff the G70 has.

...adding insult to injury, they then discontinue the Stinger.

I had my 2015 TLX for just short of 7 years - over that time I can count on two hands the times I had people in the backseat!
One of those cars is a Hyundai, so pretty easy decision
I don’t want to take what you said wrong, but it sounds like you just don’t want to be associated with the brand. If so, I get it. But don’t forget that’s how it was with Japanese brands 50 years ago.
It took me a long time to get passed it with Hyundai. But I finally did. It’s amazing how retiring can change ones perspective on financial decisions.

Thank you. As for the steering wheel, are you talking about that two-spoke wheel that looks like it came off of an Oldsmobile? I can’t deal with that either. But if you get the Sport or Sport Plus (like I did) then you get a very nice three-spoke wheel.
He did not get the memo yet. Does not realize #5 Hyundai Kia has already blown by #8 Honda/Acura producing 2.85 million MORE vehicles than Honda/Acura in 2020. Its gunning for Lexus with the Genesis Brand which will be a power is about two generation cycles.

The GV70 Is the best looking SUV in the class. The G70 Is better than the Type S in every way except subjective looks , not sure why the shade thrown at them. It's not the 90's anymore.

Looks are very subjective, the Genesis grills just ruin there vehicles for me. I do like the looks of some of the Kia's though.

I really like the exterior design of the G70. It looks amazing in that dark green colour I’ve seen on some YouTube reviews.

They get shaded because they have upset the neat order of rankings we had before & have held for a pretty long time. An upstart making major moves into the premium class bypassing a few old standby's does not please a lot of people invested in the traditional order of things.

As we Gen Xers (and some Boomers) pass along, brands like Hyundai, Kia and Genesis will start to make some major inroads. Still too many of us who recall (some scarred by) the earlier POS products put out by these brands back in the 90s; pretty much chased many of us into Honda/Toyota products back then. (This probably created the laurels on which Acura is still trying to rest on.)

Yes and I think there is a lot of resentment from long time Acura fans that Genesis is blowing their doors off where Acura is always the perennial "not quite there" brand.....

Oh boy, now I feel old. I mean, I remember when Honda and Toyota were utter crap. LOL

You're talking to a former owner of a 1980 Honda Accord LX hatch, which my mother purchased used (from Honda) and handed down to me during college; car was in the shop nearly every weekend. Never owned another Honda vehicle until 1999 (a then new 99 Accord LX sedan...one of the most solid cars I've ever owned)!!
