Throttle sensitivity

FYI: My 2023/TLX/SH-AWD/ASPEC, replaced the same 2021 version
LOVING IT!
The throttle response, on the '23, is significantly better
Same engine, Tranny, etc
Wondering if Acura made changes to the throttle
comments?

I felt the same going from our 19 RDX to 22 RDX. Guessing they made some tuning changes. Not sure why they don't apply those changes to previous models, but they don't seem to.

Just that it's good to hear they got it sorted-out. Maybe a firmware upgrade or fixed hardware module?

Look back at my posts in 2020, about the TLX-2.0T (shAWD) initial throttle response. Sure didn't seem like 272hp to me ... and no, it's wasn't turbo-lag. It was like the various components (engine, transmission, electronic throttle, etc.) were all running within a slow-motion control script. Another theory at the time was that Acura engineers were "protecting" the transmission.

I initially really wanted the TLX, but this turned-out to be one of the main reasons I started shopping-around and eventually found my A5 over at Audi. It seems to do much better (ie quicker off the line) with only 260hp.

We got our A-Specs around the same time. Unfortunately, the shoddy transmission had me leaving the brand.

Good to hear that they did something about it and that you are enjoying the benefits!

@CPR, I'd be interested in knowing if your fuel economy has taken a hit with this uptick in throttle response (especially since you are driving the same trim TLX).

Elin; it's about the same; City driving is 15-17 MPG
Highway is 32+
What's nice, is there's no more Turbo lag
Much more responsive

BTW: Acura NEVER fixed the Wireless Charging pad for IPhones
Sad

Good to hear about the fuel economy!

Concerning the wireless charging pad, let's see what the 24MY TLX brings!

I bet the pre-MMC ECU is not powerful enough so latency on the control loop is longer than it should be. If you disable CMBS, the throttle response magically improves. Same when you completely disable VSA.

That is good to hear. I have a 2022, but I feel the throttle response is great.

Was this a 2 or 3 year lease? I would like to change my Tech package TLX for a type S or even aspec (for the cosmetic changes). Wondering if Acura lets you out the lease early?

2. Yes, you should be able to disable Vehicle Stability Assist . I think there is a button for that.

1. Can you actually disable the "Collision Mitigation Braking System" in the Honda/Acura Sensing Safety Suite?

One needs to do the VSA button-parking brake-brake pedal dance to fully disable VSA.

CMBS can be disabled either with a button on 19-21 RDX or in the instrument cluster on other Acuras.

Curious, I had a 22 TLX Loaner while my 16 ILX was getting paint work done a while back.
While the turbo 2.0 had more horsepower at the big end, sure, the level of throttle lag was downright nasty. I could set that car up in its most aggressive driving and transmission mode, and still, the throttle would be flat dead every time I'd try to stab the throttle down. Making a quick pass or lane change on the freeway when a gap suddenly closed up would take a solid 1.5-2 seconds before any change in engine response.

+1 on the throttle lag. When its going it goes, but to get it going takes a bit. Interesting that its better on the '23s though. Makes me wonder if there's something '21-22 users can update/ swap to get those same results.
