PRL intercooler charge pipe for type S

PRL charge pipe

first legit after market part soon to be available for this car, will be interesting to see if there are any actual gains. Not sure if there is much to be gained with the stock intercooler plugging up the middle but good to see someone is finally doing something for this car. Apparently it also removes some sort of resonator to increase turbo noises. Will be interesting to hear those changes.

agreed, i dont know what the hold up is. I suppose theres just not enough type s’ to make development costs worth while yet, but theres also something to be said about being the only option available. Knowing full well you can knock a second off the 1/4 mile time ( not that i care about the 1/4 mile time but it speaks to how much of a restriction that part is) the first company to release one is going to draw a lot of attention from what will be a growing community.

Don't know what the S charge pipe looks like. That said any of the BMW's I modified (increased boost) I replaced the factory pipe with an aftermarket alloy version. No increase in power but no more blown thermoplastic charge pipes.

How many Type-S's have been sold so far? In the ballpark of 300? That's minuscule and not worth the time for development for most of these companies. Of those 300, how many are actually going to modify them? It's probably a double digit number. For them to do R&D and tooling costs, it's simply not worth it as of now. Honestly, if you have a decent exhaust shop around you that has a mandrel bender and uses good quality SS pipes, you could probably get one made for not much more than what an off-the-shelf aftermarket one will cost when/if they're ever available.

Also, the one guy that we know of that made his own DP is going catless, so those gains should be taken with a grain of salt if you're not willing to assume the risk of driving around catless ... along with the hassle of changing the DP every year if your state has emissions inspections.

Around 240 in canada and 2000 -2500 (based on the early reports i dont know that they ever confirmed how many 21’s were actually built)in the us with a fair number of 2022 pre-orders so enough of the cars exist that some shops should be looking in to it. Better to be early to the party then late. If youre the only option for an item then you get 100 % of the sales for those willing to buy.

Companies will definitely start making parts for this car soon. The problem is the limited availability of cars due to the chip shortage. This engine isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Especially since they added to the MDX. Who knows what else Acura has planned for this engine. I believe this engine will be in production for a while.
