Paint Chip Touch-Up Kit
Paint Chip Touch-Up Kit
Hey all,
So, I had a rock bounce off my hood on the highway earlier today. There is no dent, but there are 3 tiny rock chips in a rock where it slid across the hood. They are small, but it's a new car and I'm a super anal person.
Does anyone have any experience with paint touch-up kits? I was looking at the Dr. Color Chip kit. If anyone has used it, how well was the paint match, and how well did the blending solution work?
Thanks all!

There are many ways to do it. As simple as using a fine paintbrush or toothpick and just allow a small drop into the chip...or as difficult as putting wax around the area, putting in a drop of paint, then lightly sanding to level with the surrounding paint. For the difficult scenario, you will need a polish/compound with a high enough grit to remove the sanding marks. Probably many youtube videos you could check out that would cover a good range of application options.
I can certainly feel your pain...I ended up on a paved interstate ramp that had some loose gravel repair put down and the car in front of me kicked up a bunch of it smack into the front of my car...less than one week after I took delivery! I immediately called to schedule a full front end PPF install, including full hood and side mirrors. They filled the few chips before putting on the film, but you can still see the spots if you look closely. However, now I don't have to worry about it.
You can get the touchup pen at any Acura dealership. I've found they usually have it in stock, but you might want to call ahead to check on your specific color.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for that if I do get a hard rock hit, thanks for the heads up!
