New Type S IMO a complete Failure

If the Type S is indeed going to be a joke of a car, it won’t be because of its power output or its performance. It’s the simple fact that Acura thinks the people who plan on buying the top of the line variant don’t care about having the best features. It’s next level stupidity.

Dude, that 2011 Audi R8 is sweet. I'm sure there is a story about getting rid of that one.

Totally agree. How is that possible? I don’t care if the car is slower than the Germans or whatever, but to drop top rung coin on a car missing features has me gone. I am actually eyeing the Mustang Mach-E now. Since my driving reduced and I don’t like the Acura infotainment I needed to loom elsewhere.

Same reason I passed on the VW-ID4. Same reason I decided not to wait for Audi Q4-EV (that and I just got generally burnt-out on waiting ... after waiting for 2021-TLX)
But check this out ... if you don't want a Tesla, and the others aren't quite right ... we aren't going to have to wait much longer ... 20 new all-EV Audis within 4 years:
https://www.slashgear.com/audi-is-re...orms-01615068/
Rumor is, some of those will be ultra-performance RS-models.
Also, looks like around 10 other PHEV (hybrid) models.

I’m happy with the TTRS though.

This is just my opinion and why I left Acura but I think you are right. This car will not out perform a lot of competitors and especially the B58 like 04WDPSeDaN said. 355hp with a 4k plus lbs car awd and big wheels, 290 hp sounds about right to the wheels. The Price that will be paid for the Type S will be outrageous to, take the money and get what I got an M240 or even the 340 you will be smiling every time you drive. Gas milage in comfort mode is just like 4cyl car that’s amazing. I still love Acura and own the RDX but they need to really make some big changes to accommodate the crowd that has left and to attract some new drivers.
#48
Apparently I did
Truth is, as car guys, is 400 REALLY enough
Once you go B58, you never look back
No worries! Thank you for your service!
I totally agree with you and this is coming from someone who DOES admire Acura, WORKED for Acura and owns a pristine TL which is boosted and a 6MT. I own other vehicles and have technically moved on, I can't justify the cost of this vehicle with the fact that it won't out perform it's competition. Acurazine accounts for such a tremendously small % of Acura enthusiasts. A majority of members here have moved on from Acura. A rare few are still loyal to the brand, for their own reasons. There's a fine line of accepting the facts or being delusional. At the end of the day, several members here will own a TLX-S. Over time more of them will be bought in the used market. By that time, there will be aftermarket support and plenty of options. Full A-spec kit, mild drop, nice wheels and maybe CF add-on's and they TLX will look incredible and will grab a lot of attention. IF there's a 3rd gen TLX, hope Acura will advance to the next stage and match the performance / options to the price tag.

after speaking to multiple tuners this car is going to have nice mid range and top end sloppy loose shifts because of the clutch packs the last thing acura wants is people complaining " my Trans shifts to hard . .more power doesn't mean a much better quarter mile time like some of these clowns bashing me think. It's called a PowerBand. For a reason. It will NOT be a full second faster no way . And mainly because of the Trans. From a 60 mph roll yes it will work a TLX. WE STILL have not seen these 14.70 TLxs that people aRe claiming ..

see since you wanna talk shit and I was just giving an Opinion . I have prob Tuned more cars then you have driven in KID . Between Larrocas performance in NJ a d Radical Racing , yes I am talking about a car not even out yet Clown. DIABLO and quite a few others ( do a little research) have already said the Trans like I explained is going to be the killer .you are clueless about Tuning ,I can tell . Since you want to act like a kid I'm gonna treat you like one . Here is your chance key board warrior . 10 k cash that the type S will not get out of the 13s and it will NOT put 300 hp to the Ground . Just because a car is not out , doesn't mean the Trans Turbo IC and driveline is not out . So again here is my personal email. You Email me and I'll give you my Number and we will put Your money where your Know nothing mouth is ... or do you pee sitting down? LMK .
WHY IS THERE ALWAYS one jerk off that hides behind a computer ? I clearly stated it was MY opinion that it's a failure all said and done for 60 k and 300 HP .
I should have just ignored you but I actually want to make you look like the JO that you are. I'll be waiting....

Maybe, maybe not. Most magazine numbers are with a roll-out included. If the video test car has a roll-out you need to add about .3 to the number. This would bring it in line with the 14.70 that Jeff ran in his TLX vid using the Dragy timer.
#56
MotorWeek does not include roll out.

This is the reason I sold my TLX. Bought an RLX sport hybrid and am much happier. There is no lack of power, like with the TLX. It’s kind of like the Millennium Falcon—not much to look at, but she’s got it where it counts.
If you are set on staying with Acura sedans and want power, the RLX SH is your only option.

How would MW run an almost identical time as C&D?
C&D got 5.9 0-60 on their 14.5 1/4 mile.
MW got 5.8 0-60 on their 14.4 1/4 mile
Jeff got 6.6 0-60 on his 14.7 1/4 mile
Terminal speeds for all three were in the 97/98 mph range
Some other tests like Motor Trend were as high as 7+ & 15.4 - 91mph. I always use C&D because they are consistent among the cars they test. The numbers are not an absolute but the delta among the cars is very close.
Have used Dragy for quite a while & have never had an issue against C&D magazine times. The C&D test of Z4 vs my Dragy is within a 10th 3.8-3.9 seconds & the 1/4 mile time within a 10th of a second12.2-12.3 the MPH number of 116mph dead on.
Dragy list both the 0-60 rollout number & clock time number.

If we're talking about the same video, Jeff made his runs pulling off a shoulder of a highway into oncoming traffic. You may have to also factor in any rumble strips b/w the shoulder and highway lanes.
I would believe the "ideal" times from the magazines over a guy with live traffic and a dragy.

Point is both the two magazines quoted got the same 1/4 mile time 14.4/14.5 within a tenth. Add rollout to C&D & the video from MotorWeek & all are at 14.7/14.8 within 1 tenth of Jeff's 14.7. Outliers like the MT time will always exist.
Fact is the car is slow & slow cars are easier to be consistent with. MT "Its not a numbers car" "Regardless, the TLX was outperformed at the track." C&D "heaviness hinders performance" MB " TLX Disappoints in Motor Tend Track Test"
About Dragy, do any research you want & see what the car magazines testing it said. This is one of my runs compared to the C&D 0-60 in 3.8
Shows 3.99 against the C&D 3.8 It also shows I was running up hill during the measurement with a 3.73 up slope that would slow me slightly. Spread between the Roll out 3.99 & actual 4.31 is 3 tenths about what Jeff got VS C&D & MW.

Assuming the Type S hits in March, we should be able to see some reviews in the next few weeks.

Seriously what the hell is taking so long? If the car is supposed to come in March this is the worst marketing known to man. The BMW M3 has been leaked for almost 6 months. There are hardly any videos and or discussion or official numbers yet. Not even leaked estimates of 0-60 like other manufacturers do. This is really off putting and I’m sure people waiting for the car have moved on .

One guess is material pricing, especially for steel. It's going through an unprecedented material cost escalation right now and they can't announce their price tag until they lock their costs. They may be waiting until the resource market settles. Just a guess.

Most states that get snow don't start thawing out until late March/early April, so I'd assume they don't want to release the Type-S when a large portion of their consumer base isn't looking at performance sedans.
https://www.scrapehero.com/location-reports/Acura-USA/
Most people likely aren't going to be considering a Type-S when there's still snow on the ground or a possibility of snow, and to maximize their marketing potential, I believe they're going to release info around the time they plan to ship them. I'd say final info around mid-late April and available at dealers early May. Just my 2 cents.

Why?
Then what the "enthusiasts" will do? We have so many "Enthusiasts" here, I am sure they will help Acura to improve and bring better cars in the market. hahahah!
I thought all these "enthusiasts" will join Lexus IS forum.....but I am wrong of course!

For how much time you seem to spend complaining about these “enthusiasts”, you really should start considering charging them rent since they’re clearly living in your head these days.
