(Mod Update-3-29-21) More Carbon...After almost 14 years, it's the end of an era....
Guys, I know you don't hear from me very often, but this is newsworthy.
I bought my ASM '07 Type S on January 1st 2008....I've had it for almost 14 years. The car was build in July 2007! For years, my Acura dealership has asked when I'm going to trade in my 3rd Gen Type S to them. I always responded, "Never!"
Friday, I went to see the new Type S that just arrived...nice car. But for the heck of it, I built a Type S online. But to my dismay, they won't allow you to have the red interior with a red exterior, which was disappointing to me. But, my dealership had a brand new Gray TLX with the red interior....I was smitten. They gave me the car to drive overnight. So Saturday, I decided to trade in my beloved 144,000 2007 ASM Type S for a new 2021 TLX Aspec. This was one of the toughest automotive decisions I've made in a long time. I have to tell you, I thought long and hard about giving up my Type S. But I got a few pictures of the two cars sitting side by side. Here they are.....
I will get some better pictures today of the new TLX Aspec and post. It's a bittersweet farewell to my beloved 2007 Type S, but it was time.

Steven bell the end of an era!! Congrats on the switch and I know how hard that has been. Not sure if you remember me but I still have my white type s manual I bought in 2008. I’ve been very tempted to sell mine also but I have my eyes set on a 2017 m3, we will see in 1-2 years.
Congrats again! You gonna get the cf packages?

^^^ Hi buddy-of course I remember you!
I'm looking at the Carbon Fiber packages, for sure. I kinda want to wait and see what aftermarket stuff comes out. I've never been too impressed with Acura's conservative aero kits. I'm anxious to see what will come out.....

Congrats on your new car. I had the same exact color type S, same year but 70k miles when i traded it in after 10 years a few years back. Good choice on the int/ext color combo on the tlx. One of my favorite color combos they have and after a bought my still night blue A-spec in 2018 I regretted not getting that same color combo you got in your new ride. Also like the white with expresso leather (more the expresso leather color than the white though) if they still even offer it. I will say I missed my type S for at least a couple of years or more and was one of my top 3 favorite cars I have owned (by far the longest I have held a car) and reliability maintenance wise number 1. I think I traded mine in several years too early but the dealer was offering really good trade in which affected my thought process too much (they typically pay decent amounts for a clean type S as they have zero problem selling them fast for decent dollars).
Anyway, enjoy the ride.

Thanks...ironically, my wife just bought a new MDX in the sale color!
Thanks, my friend! I guess I need a new garage photo of this.....

^^^ But, the color selection wasn't the best for that red interior with a Type S. Besides, it came out to more than another $20,000 for the Type S. This has almost everything the Type S has sans the larger engine. At this stage of my life, I don't care about the larger engine anymore. I got a sweet deal on this because it's the 4th Acura I've purchased from them! At the end of the day, this is great!

Congrats on the new ride. The new TLX Aspec and TypeS sure are good looking cars compared the Acura designs of recent. The entire line up finally looks good again.

Congratulations and welcome to the club!!!!
I almost got that exterior color as well but opted for Performance Red at the last minute. Absolutely, love this car….particularly after giving it a K-Tuner massage.
(wifey’s new ride next to mine as well)

Congratulations, Steven. Your new TLX looks great!
I understand the agony of going through that trade-in decision. Every time my ZDX is in for scheduled maintenance they ask me the same thing, and my answer is the same as yours--I'm keeping it forever! But that answer is partially due to the fact that there's nothing on the market right now (particularly from Acura) that compels me. Someday I might get smitten like you did with that wonderful TLX...

Dude, I almost got the Performance Red too! But then, I would have 2 red cars, so I opted for the Modern Steel. Plus, you can't get the red interior with the red exterior color....the red interior and the flat bottom steering wheel is what prompted me to make the switch.
t's a classy color anyway. But now, my wife and I both have Acuras as our Daily Driver and both are the same color!
Congratulations, Steven. Your new TLX looks great!

Thanks DJ....I really had no intension of getting a new TLX. But after 14 years, the Type S was showing signs of age. There were a couple of rust spots on the exterior. There was a small hole in the drivers seat-where that came from, I have no idea....
There were some other things that needed to be attended to. I just replaced the DRL's and the rear window tint. It had a gorgeous flat-bottom steering wheel that I got from Bruce (one of our Vendors here). But you walk away from it, turn around, and it was still a gorgeous Type S!

Thanks brother! Great to see and talk to you again.
Thanks Tony....agree with you 100%
Hey dude! Great to see you and hear from you. I agree-this is a design I could get excited about. Love the nose and the rear end....it's a good looking car again.

Nice ride, I love the Gray/Red combo, as I had it on my 19TLX which made it hard to part with. I had a two 08 Type-S and loved them.

I feel the same way every time I replace a vehicle. I don't understand how I can get emotionally attached to an inanimate object but it happens somehow.

I’ve only felt that with my old 5.5G Maxima SE, on which I bought out the lease. Ultimately, sold it to an in-law and replaced it with an 07 Accord EX-L V6 Navi.

Thank you sir! I loved taking care of the "old girl".....
I totally agree.....
Thanks brother....great to hear from you!
Yea, I got misty eyed leaving my '07 Type S. She is a great girl...had a lot of great memories with that car.
Thank you!

I have found that it's because it's not just about the vehicle but also about the memories associated with it and different trips taken, milestones, fun nights out, relationships (who may have been in the car with me), etc. Like any chapter that closes you are happy about the next one but also a touch sad that those days are now over.
