Leasing TLX
For those leasing, curious as to what people are being charged for MF & residual.
A-spec around me have a 58% residual with .0005 money factor on 36/mo. 12k mi. No word on the Type S yet.
Has anyone seen Type S numbers?

Thanks. Have been on both of those sites just wondering what people are paying when they sign.

same residual at a base and aspec. Zero incentives, and it has a higher money factor. Not a great vehicle to lease.

I could be wrong but the way I figure it, take cap cost price and multiply by residual percentage, then subtract that from the price to get your depreciation owed. Add residual to the price and multiple by the money factor. Take deprecation and divide by lease term and then add your amount of money factor.
On $55,125 (2022 MDX Tech) with 62% residual and 0.001140 money factor:
$55,125 (price)
x
.62(residual)
=
$34,177 (residual value)
$55,125 (price)
-
$34,177 (residual value)
=
$20,948 (depreciation) divide by lease term (36mo.)
=
$582/mo.
Money Factor
$55,125 (price)
+
$34,177 (residual)
=
$89,302 multiply by money factor 0.001140
=$101 rate
add that to
$683 is the base monthly payment

Correct me if I’m wrong Miami Type S numbers are .00160 MF and 56% residual. Rough payment calculation below assuming you pay taxes and fees up front with no incentives or money down.
$54,000 - Rough Price
$30,240 - Residual
————————————
$23,760 Payment
$660/mo. Base
Price + Residual $84,240 x .00160 = $134/mo.
$794/mo.for 2021 TLX Type S

Residual is always based off MSRP. Take that base depreciation from the selling price and multiply by the money factor to figure monthly payment.

Should the sale price of the car (capitalized cost) be negotiated before the lease incentives? Price of a FWD Advance is 47,500. What’s a good price before lease incentives? Does the dealer lose profit due to incentives or does Acura corporate pay for those?
#11
For reference, my AWD A-Spec retails for $47,775 and I was able to secure a $415 monthly payment with $3500 down (before Acura loyalty of $1000) @ 36 months, 10k miles/year. Residual value was 62%. My negotiated price was $42,852 before tax/acquisition fee.
I wasn't told the money factor but I back-calculated something like 4.2% (0.00177 MF). Note that this was Oct 2020, about a month after the 2.0 TLX debut.

There currently doesn't appear to be any promotions for the Type S. All finance and lease offers (including the 0% interest) specifically say "Excludes 2021 TLX Type S."
It's MSRP or more if want to lease/buy this thing.
Ghostof TypeS Past, why would a Type S have a residual of 56% if the 2.0 TLX's are at 62% after 3 years (base mileage of 10k/year). Even if it's based on 12-15k miles/year, that's a huge dropoff in value!

I negotiated my own price, for my 2021/TLX/ASPEC; (Including, wheel locks, tire & wheel insurance, all season mats, & ALL TAXES, & other BS)
$480/month/36 months/10,000 miles per year; (including 25,000 additional built up lease miles from previous AHFC leases)
I dealt directly with the Dealer GM; only way to close on those figures
Tire & wheel insurance, is a MUST in NYC!
OTD price; can't beat it for the value
Of course, mine was leased at the end of November, when prices, & inventory were stable
They had to get my color/combo, from another dealer
Love my new ride, as does every parking attendant; especially, at night; the inside ROCKS!

Using a leasehackr calculator without adding in correct fees, it comes out to nearly $800/month with 0 down payment and paying MSRP. Pre-tax.
If we take Edmunds numbers as correct, we’re looking at .00160 MF and 56% residual on a 36/15k in the Miami area. FL has a 7% tax rate.
Rough estimates:
MSRP: $54,000
Incentives: $0
Cap reduction: $0
Fees: These are also the pre-loaded values and don’t represent real ones.
Acq. - $595
Govt. - $400
Dealer - $85
That gives you a PRE-TAX monthly payment of $796 assuming you’re paying the fees above upfront and not rolling those in.
It’s not unreasonable to assume it would be a little bit higher since I don’t know a dealer who’s only charging $85 as their fee, lol. This again also assumes zero down payment.

I was quoting @Krypton217 pricing from edmunds. In retrospect, cars with too high of residual have lower payments but you may be upside down at end of lease. Genesis G70 was 66% - Porsche and MBenz are conservative in the low 50% range.
Think my residual was in the 60%'s but can't be sure of the number without checking the paperwork. Thing is after all the shopping, discounts, rebates etc my CC was about $61,000 against a $72,000 MSRP. So I still think that the TLX monthly if its anywhere near mine is very very steep.

56% residual after 3 years is fine for SUVs. It’s a horrible number for sedans!

I forgot to take into account that for 2021 model year, we are now beyond the halfway point of 2021. What was 62% residual value back in Oct 2020 is now 58% in July 2021.
Yet another reason to wait for 2022 models, especially the Type S.

There was a point made in one of the other threads that 2021/2022 shouldn’t make a much of a difference in value in a few years for the Type S, however lower residual = higher payment.
Looking forward to seeing some more lease quotes posted on Type S!!

Just got back from the dealer - $782/mo. 36/mo. 12k mi & $5,000 down.

Any idea what money factor they were using?
Did they apply the $2500 conquest/current owner rebate (if applicable)?

Thanks for sharing other deals out there. Also the Type S is the the “top of the line” performance trim of the TLX. Top of the line m3 is over $70k, that lease would be outrageous. A GLA 45 AMG is about $1,000/mo.
I only shop top trim levels anyway… I can’t drive a car knowing it’s missing features.
We can start a debate about what cars are “better” in anyone’s opinion, and for the money, I could get look at a lot of cars - and I have.
This thread was started simply so people can put up lease numbers on TLX. Currently there are 0 incentives on Type S and it leases horribly. Genesis wanted $884/mo for the G70 Launch edition. Top trim, high lease. Looking forward to seeing more TLX numbers!

I would never pay this kind of money for an Acura and while car buying can be an emotional decision and folks like what they like this type of money for an Acura would be nuts.

Yep I am clear that it is missing the engine but the point is you technically aren't buying the top model strictly features-wise.

GM and Honda just made it harder to sell a leased car to another brand
Industry trade journal Automotive News reported General Motors took the first step when it instructed its Financial arm to stop working with non-brand dealerships. Honda announced a similar policy several days later. In both cases, the new rules mean drivers currently leasing a General Motors or Honda car (including an Acura model) will not be allowed to sell it to any dealership that wants to buy it, regardless of whether it's a rival company's (Ford, for example) or a store that sells used cars (including a national firm like CarMax or a small mom-and-pop business). Both companies cited the ongoing chip shortage as the main driver behind the decision. Production of cars, trucks, and parts fell by 6.6% in June 2021 due to the supply constraints, and the average price of a used car rose above $25,000 for the first time that month. That's a $5,000 increase over June 2020 for a car with about 68,700 miles.

Is $5000.00 down (trade in vehicle Older CRV) with $350.00 a month payments for 36 months / 12,000 miles a year for 2021 TLX tech package with SH AWD good deal? I'm thinking it is a good lease deal.
#39
At $139/month ($5k/36 months), you stand to lose quite a bit of down payment if you get out of the lease early. It's quite common to end a lease 3 months early if you see something you like.
Ever lease before? What's the negotiated price?

I just got quoted $2,000 OOP, 15,000 miles, over $600/month for FWD A-Spec.
That's Ohio so all of that $2,000 OOP is probably taxes.
Still doesn't strike me as a good deal.
