Did you know about the TLX engine trick? I just found out last night...

Guys, my salesman showed me this trick that totally wakes up the car and the engine.

If you press the DRIVE button twice, it puts the engine into this aggressive mode-the engine truly comes alive! But just know-it's best to use this mode when you're using the paddle shifters. The revs are now able to go very high, so be careful.

Literally, I just found this out Tuesday night. I've had the car since Friday....I was amazed!

I gave my salesperson a VERY hard time...I said, "Why didn't you tell me about this mode during the test drive????"

It's not an engine trick ... it's a transmission "trick". It put the transmission into Sport mode. AFAIK, the biggest thing it does is hold gears longer so you're optimizing performance by staying in more ideal powerbands over fuel economy.

I’m pretty sure they just puts the car in sport mode, the same as if you had just done it using the giant drive mode dial.

Nevermind it looks like it’s “sequential mode”, not sport mode, and all it does is holds gears longer.

Sequential mode holds gears while using the paddles until the engine hits it's high/low rev limits. You'll notice that if you use the paddles in regular D mode, the transmission will go back into regular shifting mode after a few seconds (not great for engine braking going down a steep hill for example). The regular S transmission mode (without using the paddles) is more aggressive with the shift mapping (possibly torque converter lockup too).

Well, it really makes the car come alive-it feels like a completely different car. It's a LOT more fun to drive.

It does but it really does a number on the already low fuel economy.
