Time will tell but right now they are in trouble, as most of the lineup is pretty irrelevant. The current TLX is officially dead, the ILX is pointless and the MDX is an expensive SUV with outdated tech and missing many things that the competition has (yes that will be changing with a new MDX but that sure doesn't help right now). The RDX is doing well but I am not sure the average person is paying much attention to it.
The saving grace right now is the price tag and killer deals will go a long way. But if you can't swing that I would tell anyone right now to not bother and that's sad.
I am not sure...
TLX and MDX will be out within the next 6 month. RDX is doing well. By 2020, we will get the new sedan. Acura is already selling around 160K units. Whereas infiniti is around 115K.
The entire video should not have leaked. Maybe just a screenshot of the MDX and TLX would've been fine and some text regarding the new Compact-Sedan, but the entire business model for the next 2 years is a big stretch. This is going to effect their stocks, possibly budget that they had anticipated as well.

Dont be so naive. A company would never share real sensitive information like this with a large group of people, especially people who aren’t even its own employees (keep in mind dealerships are not owned by the automakers). Anytime you share information to this size of an audience, you assume it will be made public in one form or another.
from what I can see the type-s won’t have advance features such as the 10+in HUD, Traffic Jam Assist, etc... if you look at the button bank you can see that the type-s doesn’t have the hud buttons the advance model has.
The type-s does have a different gauge cluster compared to the a-spec model, hopefully it is digital.
I'm just going to hope that they make 2 variants of the Type S...one without all the tech features to get a headline price tag "50k" or something and then a fully loaded one that brushes closer up to $60k. I know I want the engine no matter what, I just also want all the toys too if we're talking what is supposed to be the highest $$$ trim level.
They already do Accord 2.0T Sport and 2.0T Limited so this split isn't unheard of.

I'd appreciate you not calling me naive, but yes upon further consideration, I do agree with you.
In the video the Mark Ernst who was apparently the head the new TLX team, mentions in passing that the proportions of the Audi A7 (msrp 70k) might be compared with the TLX, so here goes....
Audi A7 Length (in)
195.6
Height (in)
56.0
Overall width without mirrors (in)
75.1
Curb weight (lb)
4332
2021 TLX
length 194.6
width 75.2
height 56.4
weight should be less even for the TLX Type S
If this Type S is priced anywhere near the BMW M340i, there's no way i'd pick this over that car. That car is a beast.
I just priced out a BMW M340i with a few options and came up with an msrp of $61.5k. My guess is that the TLX Type S will be about $10k less with similar levels of equipment and power.

Not to surprise you, but more than likely the type-s will start at 48K and with all options picked, possibly 55-58K.. A few things the type-s may not have like heated steering wheel, rear heated seats, pano roof and heads up display. Heads up display and heated steering will more than likely be an advance package for the 2.0T. Remember, they were selling at TLX with fancy red paint north of 50K.. This is a completely new platform from the ground up with a lot of new for Acura which will come with a price tag. We can't assume the typical numbers anymore just because of what the type-s has become. By the time it's released, you could buy a fully loaded M340i with CPO for less and still have a vehicle that has a lot of aftermarket support. I agree with ESHBG. Acura's timing on all is is terrible. As it is now most no longer want sedans and if they do buy sedans, it has to have all the right appeals and real enthusiasts want a vehicle that will certainly perform. A very small amount of buyers will go after the TLX-S. Even all the fan boys that are all over this vehicle, I doubt even 5% of them will buy the vehicle, not at that price tag.. It's a no brainer why Acura will offer all the options to a base model with Advance and A-spec package.

Here is the month 2020 vs month 2019 and year 2020 vs year 2019. Acura sales are just about 30% down from last year.

I am shocked actually. May 2020 numbers aren't bad at all considering he current situation. April was bloody man for all car manufacturing. Not just Acura but all companies will see at least 20-25% decline this year for sure.

I was a bit upset yesterday when I saw this info was shared across internet but you are right. Acura isn't stupid to share super important info with thousands of people. The fact that there was no mention of Type S HP, Acura did not care much about this video.

I don't think so, This is a newer more powerful engine and totally re-designed. There is no way it will cost the same as the outgoing TLX. It just wont. It will be pushing 60 to over 60K when you start optioning it out.
The BMW has everything you could want as an option. Heads up display, etc. Plus they offer insane lease deals almost Infiniti level. Another thing power wise I'm sure it won't be nearly as quick as the M340i, which is obviously underrated and probably has closer to 450 HP . Acura cannot sell this car for anything north of 55K loaded. But they will.
That video gives us, the enthusiasts, something to cheer and hope on. Haven't felt this positive about Acura's future direction since 2003, when the 3G TL was announced and released. This is the first Acura sedan in years that I can say looks really hot, without having to squint my eyes. (Disclaimer: I did like the looks of the gen 1 TLX, too, but the new gen is much better even with their dumbing it down from the concept). I'm really hoping to give my twin turbo'd NSX an Acura roomie worth having next year.

Hmmm is the advanced restricted to the 2.0T only ? Interesting, I hope goodies such as heated steering wheel, HUD , etc are not restricted to the advanced as we have seen so far in the past with rdx, etc.

It's all a guessing game as of right now so don't take my word as 100%. I'm going based off of a trim chart someone posted here. Seems as if the type-s will either have the A-spec package or it's the only package you could pick. From the videos and photos i've seen of the type-s, it doesn't show the heads up display. I have seen the heads up display on the red base model with the A-spec package from one of the corporate videos.
It would be really disappointing if the Type S didn’t either come with or at least have available as an option the HUD, heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, automatically folding side mirrors, and factory remote start.
Up here in Canada we’ve always had access to 1st-gen A-spec TLXs that were fully loaded but that suddenly changed with the RDX where we were no longer able to get an A-spec that was fully loaded. This is worrying and goes to show how Acura still doesn’t really understand its customers. I couldn’t buy a Type S if it wasn’t possible to get all the features that an Elite (Advance in the US) has.

It will definitely have cooled seats...as far as the rest I’m not too confident. Maybe the mirrors and yeah remote start should be included for sure. Since it wasn’t on the RDX who knows.
Type S should be top of the line IMO, or should have at least the ability to option up to Advance level. It was annoying that the Canadians had an A-Spec with Advance features and we in the USA didn't. What's up with that, Acura feature planners?

They didn’t do that for the Canadian RDX so we may have seen the end of that “Elite” trim level.
I hope for many here and on other pages put their money where their mouth is and buy one.
I agree with you! But like most people are saying they have to price it right. If they over price it people will look elsewhere or just opt for the advance trim to get the goodies. The engine alone is not going to sell to the masses like one said you can get a M340I at a better price.
I’m interested in the Type S but only at the right price point.
One thing that I find really interesting about this leak, is the lack of at least one new SUV/crossover. I am a sedan guy through and through, but even I will admit that Acura really needs to add at least one more SUV to its lineup to be more competitive. Lexus, BMW, and Audi, each have 5 different SUVs in their lineup to choose from. Acura only has two. Maybe bring over the China-exclusive CDX? Resurrect the ZDX or maybe even SLX names on new models? I don’t really know but I am positive that at least one new SUV model would really help them get to that 200k goal.

What I would love to see is a Sportback version of the new TLX. It wouldn’t be so difficult for Acura to do that, and would make it much easier for sedan people to have something more practical.
In all of my years of driving Honda/Acura I have yet to see their trim levels make any sense so I am not holding my breath. You can get sporty, you can get loaded, but you can't get both. Yes, they need to keep costs down but it is crazy some of the compromises one needs to make and I am always perplexed by this.

Not just the lease deals; the finance deals on BMWs are great as well. Right now...I can get a fairly loaded M340i Xdrive for $55k with incentives before TTL. Sticker is like $67k or so.
Thanks @EE4Life , just watched it. Really very cool. Interesting to see their side of it. Sounds like a good plan to me. Acura has to make money on every sale (and stay profitable) or they will slowly fade-away.
Not that I ever had any major problems with my 2014-MDX, but glad they are addressing Service/Maintenance .
Also glad they are finally addressing the Smartphone App and AcuraLink ecosystem because it was getting pretty lame (like in comparison to Audi). Looks like 2021 TLX tech head-unit is even better/faster than similar 2020-RDX (which is good).
Can't say I've ever seen Beat-That commercials on TV. The black-and-white TLX commercial is OK, but I still say the 1 minute commercial (with the drones) is the best "attention grabbing commercial". All the local dealers need to do it run that, with their name at the very end. Many will then visit acura.com or local dealer (which is all that needs to happen at that point).
