Mostly Dealership info. I did notice one tidbit.... "New Compact Sedan" along with a Type S varient in 2022. They didn't say ILX, rather a generic name. Maybe the ILX names goes away when the new model comes out.

Around 36 minutes into the video.
Very surprised i did not see RDX-S in their chart to reach 200k volume. I thought its chassis is ready, they just need to plug in V6T and make some adjustments and i was expecting them to do that during RDX MMC.
I noticed the "small sedan" and Type-S, too. That's going to be interesting.
I, personally, would have loved to see a sports car below the NSX halo, a S2000-type of vehicle. However, I understand the need to beef up the lineup first...baby steps. So far RDX has been a hit and the new TLX IMO is going to be a home run. Acura is well on its way back!

Yeah, if that's true that's a bummer. I like the RDX more than the X3, GLC, Q5, etc. but I'd like more power, and they all have something that satisfies that want whereas Acura doesn't. I don't even need X3M or GLC63 levels of power, M40i or GLC43 levels would be enough.
It's good to hear that a next-generation ILX is due for model year 2022—and so probably about a year and a few months from now. I wonder if it'll have a double wishbone front suspension too? The next Type S ILX could have the 2.0 Turbo, while the regular model might have a powered up 1.5T. I'd be interested to see too if they have a hybrid model for that car.
It'll be interesting to see what they name the new car, since it appears it won't be called the ILX. If the ILX stands for Integra LX, maybe the new one will be the RLX for RSX LX :p
Folks what is this new compact type S sedan?! Smells like a luxury type R.
I instantly thought "ILX Type-S" when I saw the "new compact sedan type-s" part. As you say, maybe an Acura equivalent of the Type-R; revival of the RSX name maybe?
Maybe it's just me, but I think they should have brought back the LEGEND name for the new TLX. The 2021 TLX about the size of the second generation Legend. But, anyway, obviously that didn't happen.
One thing I got from the video is that the Tech package still lives, which I think is a good thing. The base 2021 TLX will probably be an amazing value, but to get the ELS stereo, BLIS, leather, etc. the Tech level will be a nice upgrade.
Here's my guess on pricing before destination...
2021 TLX base $35k
$2k more for SH-AWD
2021 TLX Tech $39k
A-Spec $42k
Advance: $46k
S-type: $52k

Agreed, they should've brought back the Legend name for the new TLX
Also for the next ILX, perhaps CSX since they briefly had up here in Canada? Even had the Type S variant as well
I was thinking more due to size, rather than direct replacement. This new TLX will be longer and wider than the current E Class, which still boggles my mind. And since they've killed off the actual Legend replacement RL/RLX, then the name is right there for the taking...

I think the Legend still lives on in Japan, it's only dead in the US.
I'm glad I watched that interesting peek behind the curtain. I do think Acura is going places. And with Infiniti seemingly collapsing there may be more room in the marketplace...
"Sales at Infiniti in 2019 were down in the dumps. While the market as a whole fell 1.2%, Infiniti brand sales were down 21%....Nissan COO Ashwani Gupta still sees a path forward for Nissan’s luxury brand, Infiniti. “We will bring back Infiniti as Nissan-plus, in terms of product and technology," Gupta told Automotive News.
Basically they were showing a chart of the road to 200,000 units. 35k 'new compact sedan type S, 35k TLX type S, 65k mdx, and 65k rdx. All by 2022. So this mystery compact sedan type S should show up at some point, either this year or the next. The rdx type S must be further out in 2023 or 24.
Dang! I just realized i never finished watching the video. Did it look cool?
Reminded me of how Marvel does their post credit trailer thing. They showed it twice. Once looking over their head of design's shoulder (Ikeda was pretending he was sneaking around the design studio) and then a close up of the screen after it looks like the video finished. It was actually a photoshop image after seeing the second one. Would we get in trouble posting it here? I took a few screenshots.
I'm a fan of old movies, and so the extended old fashioned Hollywood commercial for the new TLX was fun imho, and I liked it, but I wonder if that's the right image to be projecting for the new TLX? Imho I wonder for conquest sales if you want to directly target and compare with a BMW 3-series, 4-series, or 5-series?
Nice! Thank you for that. That things look good too! What's on that computer screen doesnt look anything like what i thought it was going to look like. It looks a hell of a lot better. Right on, good job Acura! It's more than likely the concept.
Do you know what that means exactly that the Type S is based off the Aspec? Is that feature content?
from what I can see the type-s won’t have advance features such as the 10+in HUD, Traffic Jam Assist, etc... if you look at the button bank you can see that the type-s doesn’t have the hud buttons the advance model has.
The type-s does have a different gauge cluster compared to the a-spec model, hopefully it is digital.

Yes, it shows that Acura is probably going to botch another great opportunity and may be going the way of Infiniti
i think Acura’s foundation is stronger than Infiniti. But thank god they didn’t mention new engine details and etc. This information should have remained confidential but not to the point to harm Acura.

Time will tell but right now they are in trouble, as most of the lineup is pretty irrelevant. The current TLX is officially dead, the ILX is pointless and the MDX is an expensive SUV with outdated tech and missing many things that the competition has (yes that will be changing with a new MDX but that sure doesn't help right now). The RDX is doing well but I am not sure the average person is paying much attention to it.
The saving grace right now is the price tag and killer deals will go a long way. But if you can't swing that I would tell anyone right now to not bother and that's sad.
