2021 Acura TLX Colors by Trim, Trim Levels, and Preliminary Pricing Information
One of our dealer contacts has forwarded the following information which was recently distributed to Acura dealers. We don't know the base price of the TLX yet but as you can see below, Acura has roughly described the relative pricing differences between the three trim levels.
You two better change your profile pic to the new TLX a month after it's released if it's that good. So far it's only cheerleader praising.
Find it funny the two attacking me are the ones that never owned the problematic V6 version. I have every reason to be critical of Acura.
First of all, I did lease a 2015 TLX V6 SH-AWD which I have mentioned on many posts. I set out to get the 2.4 but as they didn't have my preferred colour scheme, I was offered and took a 3.5 SH-AWD in those colours. I had thoroughly test driven the 2.4, but only test drove the 3.5 once. After about 14 months, I decided I found the first two shifts hard to live with day to day. As a good customer who has good relationships with sales, mgmt, service and parts staff, I was able to walk away and into a lease with a 2016 2.4 Tech. Those first rough shifts and some of the noticeable down shifting concerns have long since disappeared in the 17, 18, 19, and 20 versions I have driven as loaners, IMHO. I took responsibility for leasing a car that I didn't test drive thoroughly, but was fortunate to have been able to switch over leases somewhat seamlessly.
No one is questoning your right to complain, but, please don't feel the need to question our choices, or "prove" why Acura sucks. I keep tabs on many makes and models and know there are many good cars out there. Perhaps we differ on the importance of brand and dealer loyalty and trusting relationships. Perhaps thats why I have been happily married for 42 years. I might also wonder why you still beat a dead horse two years or so after moving into your Audi 4. You are aparently vaey happy with it.
As for the 2021 TLX, I like what I see, but we can agree the proof is in the pudding. I'm in no rush to give up my 2018 Elite 2.4, plus I will not repeat the mistake of not thoroughly test driving the vehicle first. I suspect you have learned the same painful lesson.
Rain sensing wipers is only available with the Advance package? Isn't it included in the Tech package for the current TLX? Acura, why are you taking a step backwards?
Also interesting that remote start is only available in the Advance. I think Honda has it standard across the board on all but the base LX trims...
Adaptive dampers are not even standard on the Aspec, honestly I have no idea how they think about these trims. The tech only having 13 speakers and no wireless charging really bothers me.
You can rest assured the Canadians trims will be different since no way heated rear seats and wheel are only available on the highest trim.
If the Type-S is based on Aspec, hope this means they will add features one by one since no way a sports car cannot have active dampers as an option.

Frustrating to me is, I really want the Greystone interior but it now only comes in the Fathom Blue, no other options. In the 1st generation I could get it in the Modern Steel or the Lunar Silver. I would be happy with either of those; I just do not want a black interior.

Type-S features adaptive dampers, pretty sure that was mentioned somewhere. It's based off the A-SPEC interior but should have added hardware. Really hoping it gets 16 way seats as well so you can adjust the side bolsters.
Seems like the only way to get a light interior is white or blue. That's a real shame. I'm not sure why they would go through the trouble of creating all those interior panels in those colors and only offer it in very few configurations.
Acura packages confusing me once again. The A-Spec red interior is what separates it but it's only available on a few colors?! Even more bizarre when you consider what the A-Spec RDX and MDX look like currently.
And interesting how they pushed the Tech package down-market. At this point should just eliminate the Base and start with the Tech.

I am surprised at the rain sensing wipers only on the Advance trim. On the plus side, Parking Sensors have dropped down to the Tech package. It should also be pointed out that the 13 speaker ELS system in the Tech package with metal covers will be an upgrade from the 10 speaker system.

True, but the base model is increasing from from 7 to 10 (+43%) and the A-spec and Advance are increasing from 10 to 17 (+70%), so technically the Tech package saw the smallest gain (+30%) in speakers .

Me too. I HATE black interiors. HATE HATE HATE. WTF Acura. They always have to do something stupid with each new generation. I won't own a car with a black interior, never have and never will. Too monochrome and too hot where I live.

You do get a total of 9 choices on that grid that don't have black interior. That doesn't count whatever Type S options there are.

Black interiors even with top of the line 3M Crystalline tint is far too hot anywhere that's sunny and warm.

I wouldn't say I hate black interiors, but I definitely prefer lighter colors for aesthetics and to avoid the heat. I loved my old 2001 Saab's tan leather with walnut trim, which had a light, airy feel and stayed cool. Our 2016 Forester has light gray cloth, which is great too, though not exactly luxurious. When I bought my 2010 TSX, I was frustrated that I couldn't get a tan or light gray interior with MT, like you could in the 2009 MY. But, truth be told, my TSX's ebony hasn't been that bad in the summer, provided I keep the moonroof set to vent, and leave a window cracked open. I'm not crazy about it, but I've adjusted.
So, on the new TLX I'd probably go for Platinum White Pearl/Parchment or Fathom Blue Pearl/Graystone, unless the Phantom Violet Pearl is too awesome to resist.
It's really hard to imagine that the type s will not have most if not all of the features of the advance trim, that would be really disappointing and not competitive.
How credible do we think that preliminary information is? I find it hard to believe that the base trim would have wheel/tire size of 235/40r18, and tech (and possibly higher trim?) would have 255/40r19. That's a huge discrepancy in size for the same vehicle.

235/40r18 = 25.4in (645.2mm)
255/40r19 = 27.03in (686.6mm)

In my experience, lighter colored leathers, especially tan, suffer from denim transfer, where the dye from jeans gets on it and you can't get, or it's very difficult to get out. I only go with black interior but after my IS350 and the RDX Advanced, I will not have a vehicle that doesn't have ventilated seats to mitigate the additional heat from the darker interior.

It looks like I will be going for the modern steel metallic with expresso combination. I really want a blue exterior but it’s easier to get a wrap to change the exterior color than changing the interior color

Yea that has to be a typo. That 18" rim needs a 255/45/18 and it would be the exact size.

As long as you're not a in state that the cops have a hard on for tinted windows. In NJ, as long as the front windows aren't tinted, it's okay. I have gotten pulled over with my Acura and got a ticket for tinted windows, even though my front windows are NOT tinted. The cop claims, the car does not come with tinted windows from factory. He looked it up.. As for my two BMW X3's, they come with tinted windows (minus the front ones) and I'll tell you, it's a roasting oven inside during these past 90+ days. I keep all the vehicles under car covers now which really helps.
Eh, most of my cars are tinted. Yes, it helps while you're driving, but if the car sits outside, eventually it gets just as hot as not having tint in my experience. Or the difference is negligible. Sun shades help a lot more than tint IME. All my cars are tinted to 20%. I've only been pulled over twice for my tint. Rolled down all my windows, and the one time at night turned the interior lights on, when I pulled over. My record is fairly clean with only a couple tickets so I was given a warning both times. Most people I see with tint are assholes who drive like pricks, so I get why cops pull people over with tint (aside from the fact that it's illegal in and of itself). The privacy is nice as is the heat rejection once you get the car interior temps to a comfortable level.
My first TL was black on black. After that, I've sworn off all cars with either a black exterior or black interior. Just as black paint easily shows all scratches, swirls and dust, a black interior draws your attention to cracks in the leather and dust. I always condition and clean my leather and I've seen that black always ends up looking greasy/shiny as it ages even though I use matte finished conditioners. Never had a problem with stains in my lighter interiors since I don't eat or drink things that would make a mess and I tend to wash new pairs of jeans a few times before wearing them. Each to their own on interior choices, just wish we had more than two exterior colors to choose from to get a lighter interior.
Black cars are very hard to maintain. But it looks very classy in my opinion. I have black on black and no issues as MTL isn't a very hot city. But we do get a few heat waves. I would get either black or white next car. As far as interior, i am okay with black or tan. It's difficult to maintain light colors with kids.
I have black on black now in The Triangle but it really doesn’t get too bad. I have tinted windows, keep the sunroof shade closed when parked, and it’s garaged when at home. While I really like that combo, and really love the idea of black on red, if I go with the Type-S then might just go all out and do Tiger Eye over Orchid (assuming that combo is available).
Not counting the Type-S, why not just have a Base, Tech, and Advanced with an A-Spec appearance package as an option. Again,Type-S excluded, wouldn't a lot of us like the A-Spec look with Advanced features?!

Yes, but that would make sense so not in Acura's plan
Looks like the official accessories for the new TLX. Its great that you can make the top model look like an A-Spec. I appreciate them doing that at least. Technically you can get an Advance model with A-Spec looks, you just have to pay much more haha...
