New Wheels on Aspec

Hey Everyone happy holidays. Got some new wheels for my car about a month now same diameter but 8.5 width. Just swapped the stock tires and TPMS without any issues. Also had them road force balanced and installed 73-64 metal hub rings, so far so good no vibrations or any issues. Main reason is got this weel is for the weight. Stock wheel and tire combo is close to 60 lbs so that leaves the stock Aspec rim around 38lbs. The new rim is 19 lbs and let me tell you it’s a huge damn difference. Acceleration is the biggest change it feels so light and on the highway it’s like a rocket, tranny shifts are easier and my gas milage went up as well. Does anyone know the thread size of wheel locks to get? I also think i like this color better than that stock wheel

Did you weight the new rim/tire combo? How much was it?

I asked the guys at the shop to weigh it, the stock wheel was close to to around 59 something and the new wheel and tire was around 45. There was a HUGE difference in acceleration and power. The car feels extremely light, handling and braking is really good. I think i like the wheel color better it brings out the car more.

I also got metal hub rings instead of using the plastic one. The new wheel as 73.1 bore so it dropped down to 64.1

I just put on the stock Aspec rims/tires back on for winter and I weighed it at 56 lbs. the 20’s with tires I have are 53lbs. But I think since more weight is on the outside of the wheel it acts like a heavier wheel(more torque to spin it). I bought the same brand of wheel in a different model and the website said it was 23lbs but I think it really is 29lbs based on it coming so close to the stock rim. 10-15 pounds off a rim is huge. Now you have me thinking of downsizing back to 19s with a light rim.

Also what is the benefit of changing the hub size?

It was a night and day difference with the light weight wheel, the tranny even shifts better since it takes less power to spin the wheels. This was the lightest 19 i found that wouldn’t break the bank lol. The hub rings are there so the wheels sits flush on the hub with no spacing this way when driving it won’t move or create a vibration. 64.1 is our size and i think all Acura and Honda if I’m not mistaken. The new wheel center hub was 73.1 so i got the metal version of the rings instead of the plastic one that wasn’t even 64.1 for ours cars. This ensures you have a smooth vibration free ride. When you take of the after market wheel to put back on your stock one you will remove the hub ring. What size hub bore does your aftermarket wheel have? Did you use the rings?

the weight reduction per wheel i think is calculated every 1lbs you take off i think is 7 or 8 pound off the body. Same concept as when you put the light weight pulley on and your car feels like it lost 200lbs. My car feels like it dropped 500 lbs even my brother was like god damn is this the sams car he drove

The hub bore size of my aftermarket wheel is the same as yours I am pretty sure. I bought the Advanti DST Catalan 20”. I checked and yes I am using the plastic hub ring supplied by tire rack 64.1. I just put my wheels back on last night because I was under the impression the Aspec rims where giving me performance but it was just slipping more in the snow and ice. They do weight 3lbs more than the 20”. So I put the aftermarket back on with the ultra high performance tall season tires for safety reasons. I don’t know if this means anything but I put both on the ground and tried to push them forward with my hands and the Aspec rim seems like it need more force to push forward. So the 20” probably are offering more advantages then I thought.

YOu and i think alike i got the advanti Hybris 19 lightest one on tire rack, i changed the plastic hub rings in fear of melting i know it’s only when you track the car but i go to Canada twice a year and this year I’ll head down to Florida so i don’t want any issues. I got them from Amazon around 10 dollars for the set it’s metal rings same size all reviews we’re pretty Good. The Aspec wheels are very nice looking but heavy it really limits the car. When i came from my 15 to the 18 i was like iit drives good but there is a feeling of sluggishness, once i changed the wheel omg better than ever. U really feel the push back in the seat.

Nice wheels. Lighter wheel upgrade is a plus. Make the car lighter and more responsive. Your wheel/tire combo is pretty light at 45lbs. My 19 inch Volk racing weight 18.5lbs. With tire, I was at 46.5 lbs. I went with Michelin A/S 3 + at 245/40. What is your tire size?
The A-spec wheels are good looking, Just wish it was lighter. But nice upgrade to your A-spec from your 15. I still have mine. Waiting on the Type-S to upgrade. Still on the fence about the new grill (too big). Will wait and see.

Thanks i used the stock tire on the new wheels, save 900 bucks that way lol. When i take them off I’ll put a set of Yokohamas on them i always liked that tire and I’m hoping to put these on the new type s when it does come out. The lighter wheels make the world of difference, your wheel and tire combo is around the same weight as Mine and I’m never looking back to heavy stock wheels lol.

Offset wasn't that much different from stock, I will need to look up the exact specs. Handling is a little better since the rim is a little wider and lighter. Overall it's a great wheel and very light I spin tires all the time
