Vibration and engine movement
Vibration and engine movement
hey guys, long time lurker new poster here. I having issues with cobsistent vibration on the highway. With my 2019 2.4L Aspec that I have had for a year now. I'm aware of the low idle speed (650ish rpm) when fans are turned off and vibrations that 4 cylinders have. This is something else. I feel less vibration at idle and more when I'm at cruising speed from steering wheel gas pedal, shifter. The tire balancing and alignments is not the issue. Took it to a dealer and ofc they say it's normal and the tech who took it on the highway said the car is one of the smoothest he drove. I took a video of the engine movement when I press brake and gas at the same time when the car is in D. Is this amount of movement normal ?

This vibration just started to happen and is definitely not in my mind. Lol
Thanks for your inputs !!

The movement of the engine as per the video is normal. Since it's a 4 cylinder, I presume it's not the dreaded TLX highway vibration per say.
With vibrations, I would always start with wheel balancing... Even if the dealer says it's "good", there are multiple causes of wheel imbalance.
It could be as simple as out-of-calibration balancer (many are out of calibration...) Also, you may have lost a weight.
Also, it could be flat-spotting of the tires (may go away once you drive for 10 minutes on the highway).
You can try switching tires front / rear to check if there is a change of vibration pattern, and even find a good tire shop that has a road force machine and try that.
