Help 2017 TLX oil change -DIY?

Hi all,
I plan to DIY oil change some time when the weather permitted. It's very cold right now. Is there a video for 2017 TLX V6 base model on how to change oil? Is it the same as changing 2017 MDX as this YouTube video? Do you know OEM oil filter that I can order? Do you use Mobil 1 synthetic oil 0w-20? Thanks

part # for the crush washer is 94109-14000

I personally use Mobil 1
Oil: 0w-20
Filter: M1-110A

If you go on Amazon their compatibility engine is pretty accurate. You could probably source the washer for the oil drain bolt from Honda or in bulk for cheaper from amazon/ebay.

Do you replace crush washer (pt# 94109-14000) every time you change oil? I never put new washer on my 2002 Honda Accord. This is my first TLX and I'm not sure if washer need to change on every oil change...
The TLX, I always have dealer do the maintenance every time the A or B service pop up.. This is time I want to do my self. I just had my annual inspection and dealer said everything is good. All i need is an oil change, I'm at 30% now.

Thanks

I always use a new crush washer. Just watch out for the oil ejection trajectory from the oil filter after removal. It's located in annoying position near front right wheel.

Yes I replace every time. I rather spend the couple of cents on a new crush washer than to find out later on that I have all my new oil spilled in my garage due to a failed seal on the drain plug. A couple cents for a peace of mind...yes. I know a few who don't replace the crush washer and it's fine with them, but if I'm taking the time to change my own oil, I'd rather do it knowing there's less chance of a leak.

I stopped going to the dealership because well they're just overpriced. A1/B1 services especially as they're just glorified oil changes and tire rotations with a few visual inspections. And the lowest I paid for any oil change around here was $64 and the price just kept going up after that. I can get all the materials I need for half that price or less. About 45min of labor on my part and it's well worth the savings.

I checked out the official website and skimmed it. Nothing showed up for Acura, so guessing it won't fit Honda/Acura drain pans.

I will do like all of you. Couple cent for peace of mind. Are you using OEM Crush Washers or aftermarket? Please let me know if these are good?

Amazon Amazon
20-Pack of Honda Oil Crush Washers/Drain Plug Gaskets - Equivalent to OEM 94109-14000

Amazon Amazon
Mobil 1 M1-110A Extended Performance Oil Filter, Pack of 2

This seem useful plus it has measuring lol
Amazon Amazon
Lisle 19702 Dispenser with Lid and Cap - 8 Quart Capacity

My current mileage is about 16.5k, which one you use for oil? I read a few comments saying Annual Protection wasn't that good. Some said lower their mpg if I remember correctly.
Mobil 1™ Annual Protection 0W-20
Mobil 1™ Extended Performance 0W-20
Mobil 1™ 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy
Mobil 1™ Extended Performance High Mileage 0W-20
Mobil Super™ Synthetic 0W-20

Or if you use different brand oil,
Thanks for your input.

I use Mobil1 Extended Performance or even the Eco formula. Honestly there are too many different factors, right down to tail wind, that affect mpg more, it's hard to put it on the oil used.

Done changing oil today since i'm off work and weather was like 50 degree. I used original crush washer cuz the one I got from amazon (
Equivalent to OEM 94109-14000) Equivalent to OEM 94109-14000)
was a little smaller compare to the original. The original washer covered the whole bolt sleeve but this aftermarket was off by a little bit and i'm not sure how much it actually cover the oil drain hole so I don't want to risk it. The original is still good.

Good thing I bought breaker bar from harbor freight or else it will be hard to unscrew the drain bolt.

Next, will be my wife's 2017 MDX.

Not sure if the 14MM refer to the socket size but my 2017 TLX oil drain bolt wasn't 14MM. It's 17MM socket size.

I buy my own oil and filter (Mobil 1) and take it to a Japanese car independent. They charge around $18. That's worth the time, effort, and disposal to me.

It baffles me why 3rd party garages seem to put filters in with herculean torque. The last oil change I did a month back was after a local garage did my winter change had to be removed by impaling the filter with a screwdriver and twisting it off, and even then I was splitting the metal of the filter before it gave away (I don't have garage myself for off-season maintenance). Same with the drain bolt. I think spec is only 18 ft-lbs. Had to be more like 80 ft-lbs applied.

I use Mobil 1 Extended Mileage filters and synthetic. I too had the same issue with the Amazon crush washers being too small for the bolt so I just ordered a bunch of OEMs to have them on hand.

Very comfortable doing oil, changes but new to this car. I would use ramps due to the belly shield removal. Is the oil filter accessible with the car on ramps?

All my other v6 Honda’s and Acura’s, I could do on the ground by turning the wheel all the way to the right.

Oil filter is right behind the front passenger wheel, so removing that is the easiest. You can get to it without having the car on stands, although you need to jack the tire.
