Headlights turning on by themselves

My wife keeps the headlights her 15 TLX Tech on Auto. Last night we saw the headlights turn on by themselves several times while parked & by parked I mean the car turned off & doors locked. The lights would stay on for about 30 seconds each time. We were only able to see the headlights because we had gotten a parking space right in front of the restaurant we went to. Never saw the headlights do this before, but then we don't know if they're doing this when we can't see them when parked, such as in the garage or a spot away from where we can see the car. Any ideas? I did mention to my wife that she may have to actually turn the lights off/on manually.

It's a setting designed to give you time to see where you are going after park when dark. You can turn it off via the screen in the car. Think it is under vehicle settings. I believe you can shorten the delay or turn it off as well.

I don't believe that's it. I know the setting you're mentioning & it's never been changed in the 4.5 years we've had the car. What I'm referring to is while sitting in the restaurant for 45-60 mins, the headlights came on for 30 seconds, turned off & then periodically repeated. That's not the (whatever it's called) delay.

Sounds odd. Have you had any electrical work done to it recently? Any rodents in your area that may have snacked on your wiring harnesses?

My 2018 only turns on the lights after locked when I unlock with the key fob. Could that be happening or maybe a malfunctioning key fob?

Do you have access to a OBD reader? Maybe something will pop up in there. I'd bring it to the dealership and let them know, my 2015 Advance doesn't do that. So sounds like could be electrical issue.

The fob was in my wife's purse inside the restaurant & we were at least 40' from the car. I believe the fob battery was replaced by the Acura service dept. in Dec 2018. The fob doesn't exhibit any malfunctions.

No access to an OBD reader. AFAIK, this just started happening. Obviously we don't know what's going on in the garage. One thought I had last night when it was happening: a couple of times when the lights went on, a car was passing behind our car. I wondered if the other car's avoidance systems could have activated the headlights in our car somehow, although there wasn't always a passing car every time the lights turned on.

Was the key fob in her purse having the “lock/unlock” button accidentally pushed from something pressing on it? Just a possibility!

Just would be odd since the car is turned off. I mean as connected as these cars are it could be a possibility...

Maybe something pressing the unlock button on the key fob triggering the lights. Take the key fob out of her purse and make sure nothing is touching it

It's a possibility though she always keeps her keys in her purse & she's had this car for 4.5 years. I could see it happening one time because of the purse, but not multiple times as she didn't handle her purse until we were ready to leave the restaurant. I'll mention it to her anyway.
