Extended Warranty - Did you get it? I'm wavering

We all know vehicles have problems. I elected not to purchase an extended warranty for the TLX at the time of purchase. Considering how complex it is, I'm wavering on my original resolve and considering an Acura Care warranty.

The dealer pressed hard for a warranty at the time of sale, but not the Acura one. It was an "in-house" warranty of some sort for an absurd amount of money, like $3200. When I laughed, the price dropped to $1800, but I was annoyed by that point and politely said No thanks.

I'm wondering if the Acura Care warranty would cover things like Navigation Units or Adaptive Cruise replacement, lane keeping sensors, etc. You know, the big ticket items.

I've also read you can purchase a competitively priced Acura Warranty by a few out of State dealers.

With all of these issues that I hear are affecting the TLX, I am glad I made the decision to lease for the first time in my life.

I normally buy and don't get the extended warranty. If I had bought, I think I would get the warranty if I planned to keep the car after 3 years after reading all of the posts.

Yeah, I hear you, Steve! With all of these issues and my own TLX eagerly awaiting a letter from Acura about the ZF tranny needed to be inspected and possibly replaced, it would seem like it might be worth while.

Not trying to start another debate, but you can just as easily sell the car when the warranty runs out if you have had some warranty claims and feel that this is a trend. Put the $1,800 or $3,200 toward the purchase of a new car.

I am looking forward to not being on the list for the recall, but if I am on the list hope to be cleared. The ODMD and navigation update would be good, but it has not yet been announced for Canada.

I have owned Hondas/Acuras since 1991. Since 1996 I have had extended warranties on all my new car purchases. As reliable as Hondas/Acuras are each warranty has paid for itself easily. It does not take much to run up an $1800 repair bill these days.

Acura Care covers the items you listed above. The items typically excluded are items such as squeaks, rattles, wind or water leaks, trim and body pieces, interior trim pieces, light bulbs (that includes the headlights and assembly), glass, etc.

The nice thing with Acura Care is that any Acura dealer will be able to work on the car. You will find that with some of these "in house" warranty companies, they require you to return to the selling dealer for the warranty work if you still live within a given radius from them.

I went with an AWD Advance model, and with all the electronics on this car I thought it was good insurance as well since I plan on keeping this car long term.

Smart cruise, electronic everything, touchscreen, Remote Start, sensors everywhere..... More worried about those things than the power train, and things that people used to worry about.
