Clock Spring Issues

I've noticed that when turning my steering wheel, there is a pronounced "spring" noise from the wheel. I am assuming our car uses a clock spring in the wheel like previous TL's did.

I'm also assuming this noises is not normal and should be looked at since my 03 TL with 255k is silent.

The clock spring isn't really a spring at all. It's more like a spool of printed circuit material. I'd get it checked out, but I bet it's something else. Actually, honda calls it a cable reel, which I think is a better description.

Yep..agreed....however on the older TL's was called a "clock spring" so I just went with that.

I think I mentioned that before, somewhere here. There was an issue with the latest generation Accords, improper routing of a wire attached to the airbag that caused these annoying "clicks". Maybe since both steering wheels come out of the same supplier, the same wire routing mishap has occurred here.

Car is at the dealer now. They claim noise is normal as they heard it on a couple of other TLX's on the lot. Not acceptable for a $40k car to have "spring" moises from the steering wheel. Requested they raise this with corporate at this point.
