I really dislike the automatic dimming rearview mirror in the TLX. My TL's mirror was adjustable and I never used the dimming feature. Would it be easy to change the mirror in the TLX?

No need to change the mirror just disable the auto dimming feature by covering up the light sensor. That should stop it from dimming.
Great idea, I'll try using some tape over the sensor. Thanks!
I put tape across the sensor on the back of the mirror, but this just made the mirror think it was night time all the time so it was constantly dimmed.
I found several discussions on this topic on other car forums, and they said to cover the senor on the front of the mirror as well. They said you can locate the sensor in the mirror using a flashlight, but I can't find the sensor on our mirror. I don't even know if this will work, I think covering this sensor as well will also make the mirror think it was night time all the time.
I guess I can ask Acura the next time I need maintenance done, but in the mean time does anyone have any other suggestions?

No don't cover the sensor on the back. That's the day/night sensor. Cover the sensor that's facing the rear located above the mirror on the roof.

Thanks! In the other forums they said this sensor was in the mirror itself. No wonder I couldn't find it. Originally Posted by 01acls

The other option is to disconnect a wire inside the mirror, but I'd rather not mess around with it.

Nope, this is an automatic dimming mirror, we have no control over it.Originally Posted by LAMike240
I havent had a chance to check, but is there possibly a menu setting?

If you think the TLX one is sub-optimal, you should have seen the one on the 2009 TSX. Comparatively, the TLX one is wonderful.
Score! I shined my flashlight onto the rear view mirror in my darkened garage again, but this time I put my sunglasses on. I spotted the rear facing sensor towards the bottom of the mirror, about 1/3 way in (left to right). I put a small piece of black electrical tape over the sensor, and my rear and side view mirrors no longer dim automatically. The tape on the mirror doesn't even bother me, it's where the black rear seat headrests reflect in the mirror, and I hardly notice it.

Nice, you might try some chrome tape then it'll be hardly noticeable.

Hohoho, being it's Xmas time I'm sure you can fine lots of shiny silver/chrome wrapping paper to choose from. Just use a hole puncher and punch yourself a nice round disk to cover-up the light sensor.
