Broken piece of plastic?

So my driver's seat broke a piece of plastic off. No idea how, never seen this happen in any of my cars before. Think warranty would cover this?

many of the TLX'ers on this forum had that happen.

because there is no support and all your weight falls on that piece of metal, the plastic cracks and breaks

Had issue and got remedied via dealer and warranty. Will happen again.

Supposedly the dealer can stop it from reoccurring: New model growing pains: Broken plastic trim around driver's seat cushion - Acura TLX Forum

I emailed 3 Acura dealerships since I don't live close by. #1 Was the one I bought the car from and the salesman said he never saw that before #2 Said to stop by so they can look at it and to check if warranty would cover that and #3 said no problem They ordered the necessary part without me having to ask and will contact me when they get it in.

Interesting - sounds like you learned something about your dealers

that they're all franchises and therefore have different rules?

Nope, just that I like the rules of dealer #3, and would be temped to give him my business.

Dealer #3 called and said they got the part in and for me to just stop by, no appointment needed.

They redesigned the clip for the ‘17 model according to my dealer. New clip is MUCH longer. Salesman told me this was a VERY common problem on the ‘15-16 TLXs. The fact that my dealer had the plastic trim part in stock in the right color for a 4-model year old car sort of reinforces his comment.
