2015 tlx driver's side seat trim broke because the
seat spring (or something) pushed up against the plastic and broke it.
Pic attached.
any 1 else experience this?
took car to dlr, they said acura doesn't cover trim under warranty
i said we'll see about that
this is a defective seat issue
I've escalated this issue to the district service manager.
Damage to plastic trim caused by that piece of metal...whatever it is.
Mine did it too, a bunch of people had it happen, the replacement part number looks identical on the outside but is reinforced in that area... but Acura says its not due to a design issue on their part.
FYI now my passenger seat is doing the same thing.
Attached is a pic of the outline of where the damage will be.
Acura service told me either Acura pays or I pay.
I assure you it won't be me.
passenger seat trim damage beginning, breakaway soon
If this isn't a design defect, I dunno what is.
I submitted a case report on this and it's been 2 weeks and I've not heard back from any 1.
Does any 1 work at Acura anymore cept for Louis in the nav/engineering dept?
it definitely is a defect and Acura knows it, I wish i had a picture but when i swapped mine there is definitely more material and structural reinforcement in the new trim piece that isnt present in the one that broke
I'm late to the party, but this happened to my 2015 TLX and Acura replaced it under warranty. No hassle, just took it to the dealership. (This was in 2017 when the car was ~2 years old.)
So, after several months of waiting, I finally heard a decision (11/09/21) from Acura on whether or not they were going to cover these trim pieces under
warranty or not. Answer? No they are not. Case closed.
So, I might try another dealer to see whether or not they will do anything for me.
I'm not counting on it.
What's most disappointing here is that this issue is a design defect that Acura has not only decided NOT to fix
but also not even willing to acknowledge this is a problem.
In my view, Acura is now no better than any of the other car companies. Buyer beware.
