Bright Multi-Information Display?

It could all be psychological, but I'd like some others to weigh in before going to the dealer. I've only had my TLX about 10 days and until recently didn't have to opportunity to drive much after dark. The Multi-Information display between the speedometer and tachometer is obnoxiously bright. I've been able to mitigate it some by dimming the dash lighting, but it appears to be an in my face distraction. I do not remember this as an issue with the similar display in my 2008 TSX. Is this normal?

I don't think it is normal. Definitely worth asking the dealer about.

Actually Tonyware, I've considered placing black tape over the display. ;o)

Your pic looks about what my MID looks like at night. The MID dims along with the rest of the instrument cluster with the lights on. I have my brightness set to just one tick off of full brightness for night driving so the MID doesn't dim a lot. I suspect if I lowered the night brightness setting the MID would be noticeably dimmer along with the other gauges.

Took it into the dealer and they more or less said "it is what it is." I'm sure some of the issue is psychological. At first the display was set to full bright and, according to the dealer, doesn't adjust for night if set to full. (Needs to be at least one tick lower.) Since it was in my face that first night, my eyes get drawn to it. There's also a reflection from the backside of the steering wheel. Hopefully it's a matter of me adjusting to it. Certainly, if this is normal, others would also be finding it annoying. I may put some tinted film over it. Other than this, the car is great to drive.
