iesu3423, I wish you would go ahead and pee or get off the pot. If there's nothing wrong with the TLX in your opinion and you want one, quit blabbering about it and just go buy/lease one and enjoy it. Your comments in numerous threads are getting a bit annoying if I'm being honest. Not trying to be mean but you seem almost obsessed with expressing and defending your opinions about the TLX. The best defense is a good offense. Go buy/lease one and prove everyone wrong. Again, no offense intended.
Stew, even though they haven't suggested/offered it, if you really insisted on a trade (with them eating most of the depreciation hit), would they be at all receptive? It just seems like you got really screwed on this deal and they ought to do something about it.
I apologize if this has been answered before. Good luck.
UPDATE: I decided to talk to the GM at my dealership since my TLX is in for some warranty work for popping in the steering system, well.. an RLX Advanced is most likely in my future. He gave me the keys to one and said drive for the weekend.. oh my.. nice car.

Could be adios to a screwed up TLX
Did you consider trying to have Acura buy back the TLX as a lemon? You may want to negotiate to have Acura/the dealer take it back and give you the RLX at a discount?
I'm certainly no expert, but seems like there's a big difference between an Acura corporate buyback and a dealer giving these guys an inflated value for their TLX trade. Thus covering most of the big depreciation hit.

Seems like it's worth exploring.
I would be up for exploring, if it would mean getting me into a car with a proper transmission. I don't want to regret a $45000 decision ever again.
I feel for some of you. Unfortunately, it is hard for me to understand since I have yet to come across a bad one. I love my TLX and the 9 speed trans. Smooth and always in the powerband when accelerating hard. I find it much quicker than the 3G and 4G models while riding and handling better and being quieter. I checked mine to see if it needed the 38 and or 40 update. Service mgr connected the computer and said the car's software was newer than both. It would allow either. Production date was 03/15. Just 600 miles on her though as I just got it 08/31. I drive 11 miles each way to work at ~ 55 mph with only a handful of stops.

I am seriously considering it. I decided to talk directly to the GM and let him work things backwards from his end to see if we could resolve this. He keeps me as a customer this way. I do really like my dealership and know most of the main folks there, I'd hate to lose that
Stew do a new thread so we can follow your progress and to not derail this one. I'd like to see how your GM handles this as I'm almost at break point with this 3rd gear shift.
I'm with you joflubyu2 I have a little over 10000 miles on one I bought a year ago so its an early one and it shifts a little hard 2-3 but otherwise no issues. Been to the dealer once to get the free oil change and have not been back. They have sold over 30000 TLXs 2015 alone and I know they sold a bunch in 2014 but don't know how many 9 speeds so it's hard to tell how big a problem this is. Not planning to do any SBs if I can help it. I just want the transmission to last with no changes. I enjoy it more as time goes by. My main ride is a 62 corvette 4 speed so I may be more forgiving than most.
"We’ve read unsubstantiated reports of auto-stop related ‘jerking’ at intersections, harsh shifting patterns, and the occasional unexpected acceleration when transitioning to or from a stopped position. We attribute these reports (mostly) to the learning curve associated with the Z-9 automatic transmission. Note: when compared to a conventional 5 or 6 speed automatic transmission, the 9 speed may appear to be hyper-shifting or overshifting when transitioning through lower gears on surface streets.
Torque news encountered this shift behavior while driving the 2016 Acura MDX. Yet, after a few hours of driving, found the zero drop off in usable torque to be refreshing, and at times, downright exhilarating!"
Does this help at all? Have you guys tried to carefully think about what could be going on?

Shows how stupid you are to cite a C-list site like Torque News which is full of absolute sycophants in their individual brand sections. We're all here and Acura has issued TSBs because it's made up. Ass.

Seven SB's so far. Great transmission.
And to think it's just our imagination.... runnin' away with us
The jerking of the transmission is definitely annoying. For me though, I have an issue with the lack of sensitivity when pressing the accelerator. I feel like I have to almost floor it to really make the car come alive. If Acura engineers went through the process of designing IDM, why not make "Sport" mode more aggressive? I'm selecting Sport with the understanding that I don't care about fuel economy. I have "Economy" and "Normal" modes if I want to conserve fuel.
I'm really hoping they will have a software update in the future that will make the transmission come alive in both Sport and Sport+. It only shifts aggressively if you floor it. I shouldn't have to press the accelerator so hard in Sport to make it respond.
I will be taking my car in this week for the software updates based on the TSBs reported in this thread. I really like the car but Acura needs to get with the program on the ZF tranny.

But how will you ever afford the horrible mpg due to the "lowly" 6 speed auto?
Hope thats where you end up, its definitely a nice car.
I guess I missed it. Why did you need to have your car towed?? That's messed up!
My Transmission Control Module failed. The car went into Park all by itself while I was backing out of my driveway. It did that three times trying to get it up on the truck. I started a thread for it in this forum - look for "Transmission Control Module Failure".
My dealer gave me a RDX to test drive a few days after informing them of the TLX transmission. I have the option of giving back the TLX for the RDX. Hmm.... things to note:
Cons
RDX interior and quality is not up to snuff of the TLX, need to move into MDX for 1:1 quality
RDX has way higher fuel consumption
RDX cabin noise is higher
I ordered a set of window visors from weathertech that are still in shipment
Pros
I like the elevated driving position
The transmission is perfect, 6sp, smooth shifts, no nonsense
I like the looks and extra utility of a CUV

I got out of my TLX.. was sad parting after so much effort to get and to try and iron things out. I am in an RLX now.. yeah, costs me a bit more but damn I love the ride, Krell Audio and features.
It wasn't easy to walk away from it. That said, I was told that I am the 3rd person to dump a TLX V6 back to this dealer due to the transmission issues

This is like saying "ok, you don't like that rotten apple -- here's an orange". I guess they really have no other choice other than give you your money back or offer to upgrade to an RLX.

Thing is, RLX is way out of my price range and it kind of sucks losing the "premiumness" of an elite/advanced tlx for the RDX. But I still have a few days to decide.

Did you take a loss trading or was it a straight return?

It was pretty much a straight return though I ended up paying more to get into an RLX. If I would have wanted to go with an RDX, it would have been pretty much a straight trade

Nice. As long as nothing was carried over. Congrats and hopefully your headaches end on this one.

When did you buy your TLX? How did the discussion of the trade come up?

TLX Elite is 2 weeks old with about 500km on the odo. I was doing some errands on Saturday and decided to stop by. Since I was in the area, I wanted a chat with service regarding the 3rd gear shift updated that was posted on the other forum.
"Hello all: this afternoon I had my first (A1) service done, as well as a software update. A1 was routine. Transmission Software update has made a noticeable improvement in my short driving time.
My concerns (similar to many others with the 9 speed ZF)
Fairly harsh 2-3 upshift;
in reverse car occasionally accelerates, even when my foot was on the brake;
1st gear seemed to 'slipping' - constant foot pressure would cause a bizarre rise then fall of RPM;
Very rare (1/month) lunge or lurch forward at near zero speed.
I presented the service tech with a couple of USA TSBs (specifically 15-038, 15-040) courtesy of this Forum (TY @Summest). Naturally the CDN techs didnt know these TSBs, but kept them for future reference.
What was performed:
The dealership performed, over approx 2 hours:
a 95ACZZ-K95 Update (Canadian ID I assume). My VIN was on the list when I made my appointment
Teach in procedure
TCM Teach in procedure
Test drive
Results
A different car for sure! 2>3 shift is smooth like the others; revving seems to exhibit a more normal behaviour, and overall performance is far better - much like the test drive I did 1 year ago."
The service rep stated that my ecu is up to date with the latest software after "running my vin through the computer" and didn't recognize any "95ACZZ-K95" update.
At this point the sales manager walked by and heard the discussion and I said I regretted the TLX. I asked him then to loan me the RDX for a few days with the possibility of returning the TLX for the RDX.
It was pretty much a straight return though I ended up paying more to get into an RLX. If I would have wanted to go with an RDX, it would have been pretty much a straight trade
How many miles had you put on it? I guess they figure they can sell it to someone else who won't be as bothered by the transmission?
Took my SH-AWD in for A1 service and had them perform some TSB'S...can't remember off the top of my mind which ones they preformed on the car, will have to look at it again.
Anyway, the hesitation when slowing down to 2nd gear and accelerating doesn't seem to be apparent anymore but the hard shifts are very apparent. Wasn't like that before. Going to call and have dealership look at it again.

6100 miles. I am sure the next person won't feel the need to make things up like I do. Even the SA I use acknowledges the issues I made up off the top of my head. .. I should write children's books.
