2016 TLX transmission issues / Damn VCM

I have a 2016 TLX V6 FWD. The shifting is horrible, VCM causes the car to vibrate, and experience shuddering/hesitation on acceleration. I brought it to three dealerships and had a New England technician look at it, and they all say the same thing….. car is operating as designed. I had a 2010 TSX and loved it. So I went with the TLX. I think all Acura reaps are trained to tell customers the car is operating as designed because Acura does not want to take ownership of the problem. I should have went with another car brand. Anyone have any luck with their dealership and resolving these types of issues?

Welcome to the forums. I am sorry to hear you are having a problem but posting four (4) threads with the exact same text will not help and might annoy other members so I deleted the other 3 threads.

A search for "VCM" in this forum should provide you with information until you can get some replies.

After I got my transmission replaced, when the VCM kicked in (which typically only happens when the engine is below 2K RPM depending on speed) it would vibrate like I was in too high a gear and lugging the engine. The solution was to have the active engine mounts synchornized, with the car in gear. Since I had that done, the VCM is pretty much transparent, the way it was before the transmission replacement.

Thanks for the info. I have another appointment with the dealership later this week to have them look at the issue.... again, and will mention this. What was the reasonf or the replaced transmission?

Wouldn't be a Honda product unless there was something goofy with the transmission At least failure rates have gone down.....

There's not enough corn in Nebraska to make enough popcorn for that thread ...

What is Acura's solution for the VCM vibration? With my TLX, it is engaged starting at 15 mph. Also, does anyone experience shuddering / hesitation at times when accelerating? It is strange how this experience comes and goes.

Looking for solutions.

As I said above, the active engine mounts need to be synchronized. VCM should be (and is when operating properly) completely transparent, no vibration at all. Acura Techline knows about this and provided the guidance to correct the problem.

Thanks. What about the shuddering / hesitation on acceleration? Have you experienced this? Somewhere I read it was an issue with the Torque Converter. True?

I have not experienced that personally, but it sounds plausible that it might be the torque converter.

I just picked up my TLX from the dealership, and they said the synchronization of the motor mounts does not work on a standard V6 2wheel drive. It only applies to AWD TLXs. They said the VCM vibration I feel is normal and all 2016 2WDs do this.

IS ANYONE ELSE FEELING THE VCM VIBRATION? It can't just be me.

I had the same problem and like a few others here, installed the VCMuzzler. No more VCM, and only about 1 mpg less on the high way. Car is more responsive also

Very easy. 5 minutes.

Do an eBay search for VCMuzzler.

2016 TLX Low Speed Transmission / Shifting

I have a 2016 TLX V6 FWD. Do other owners experience shifting jerkiness at low speeds? On the highway in traffic, going 5 to 20 miles per hour, the shifting feels like no other cars I have driven. This is experienced in Econ, Normal, or Sport mode.
