2015 TLX SHAWD - Replace MAF(?)
2015 TLX SHAWD - Replace MAF(?)
2015 TLX SHAWD, approximately 70k miles. Original owner.
Recently I have been getting P0171 and P1074 errors and was thinking it could be the mass airflow sensor. I replaced the engine air filter about 4 months ago and just checked it and it's still pretty clean. The MAF looks pretty clean as well from what I can see. If it looked dirty I would consider just cleaning it. I'm considering replacing the MAF myself as it would likely save a good amount of money vs. taking it to the dealer and the process seems pretty simple. Disconnect battery, disconnect MAF, unscrew old MAF, install new MAF, connect new MAF, reconnect battery.
Another possibility I've read is that it could be a clogged fuel filter, intake manifold air leak, or vaccum leak but those are not things I'm able to check/replace myself. No accelertion hesitation and not a real noticable drop in gas mileage.
I suppose it could also be the fuel pump somehow?
Not likely an O2 sensor or fuel injector since the errors are indicating problems on both BANK1 AND BANK2.
If I decide to either clean or replace the MAF, I've read that you should disconnect the negative connection on the battery before doing either action (clean or replace). If I disconnect the negative, will that cause my factory radio to disable/lock itself? If the radio gets disabled/locked, how do I get the code to unlock it? Is there a diagnostic screen I could look at beforehand that would provide me with the code that I would need to unlock it later? Would I have to go back to the dealer and (probably) pay for it to be unlocked? BTW, I don't have any other power supply or means to provide power to the car while the battery is disconnected during the MAF work.
Any other suggestions or thoughts? Thank you.

I would start with the cheapest option: clean the MAF. I have had dirty MAF without visible dirt on it.
I have cleaned the MAF (on a toyota) without having to disconnect the battery. Just make sure the car is off (and cold) and get a proper spray cleaner, and let it air dry before installing it back.
Clear the codes and see if codes come back.
