TLX 2.4L Tune

Hey guys,

I’m new to the tuning scene, but I was wondering if it was possible for a 4 cylinder 2015 TLX to get a canned tune. I’m installing a cold air intake into my car and possibly a rv6 downpipe as well.

If anyone knows anything about tuning the 2.4L tlx, please let me know!

Thank you!

Visit https://ktuner.com/13ilx/ to buy a ktuner. Make sure your vin matches up, as there are only a few certain TLX's that can be tuned

just to let you know, a cold air intake and a tune wont magically give you 30hp...
a naturally aspirated engine is hard as hell to make power from...you'll be lucky to gain 5hp from ktuner and CAI...

$649+$300(intake) = ~$1000 for 5hp or less.

Yeah, not to be a smart @$$ but if you're tuning an I4 TLX, you're doing it wrong. You can start with the upgrades you're considering. I think justnspace is right on the money. Maybe do an exhaust kit too. Not just the mufflers, the whole system. People on this forum have done that (with pics). Looks and sounds good I'm sure. So that's probably another $1000. The goal is to increase airflow to increase power. So focus on everything from the intake to the tailpipe. You probably won't feel a ton of different in torque or acceleration, but you can spend a lot of money to feel like you are. Then, to make those upgrades work properly together, you have to find a dyno and buy a tuner to reprogram the ECU to optimize air-fuel mix/power/fuel economy. All that may gain what, 20hp? I don't think there is much low hanging fruit besides those.

If you're really serious about power, you would move on to a turbo and intercooler, which I'm sure is possible on the K24. You'll spend more boosting the I4 then you would trading in for a V6 TLX or an STI, the latter of which will still smoke you in a race plus give you AWD.

with my fully bolted on 2006 6MT TL, I barely made 15 extra ponies...
sitting right at 240hp to the wheels.
I am tuned, but all the tune did was clean up driveability. fully bolted on made me run lean and with the tune, it helps keep things stoich...which means no knocking. that's the best benefit of a tune! no knock !!!

I havent dyno'd with the tune, as i'm running an E-tune...
so, over the 9 years that i've had my car...i've probably put $5k+ into mods. Sure, it made me quicker. but like someguy11 said...there will always be other cars that will smoke you

very impressive !

Gotcha. As I said, Im new to all this performance stuff and just getting into the car scene. Thank you for all of your inputs though! I will definitely look into a turbo if there is actually one that is stable out there.
