Foot Area LED's

So I have heard mixed opinions whether the foot area has illuminated LED's like past Acura's have had. I am seeing them in the door handles and center console but nothing by the feet. Is there a special setting or do they just not have those any more.

I don't see any illumination in the foot area. My TSX had it but they must have left it off the TLX. I have an i4 Tech model.

That sucks...especially considering their emphasis on interior/ambient lighting. On my TSX I used the wiring there to put in some awesome looking blue LED strips. Was planning to do the same for TLX :-\

Ya, this was a disappointment. I'm coming from a 14 year old 3 series, and this is one of several ways my brand new acura is lacking.

Definitely a shame. I used that lighting in the TSX to determine if my right foot was on the brake or the gas. ;-)

This would be very easy to add- $5 and half an hour maybe. If in end up buying a TLX I will deff be adding the ambient footwell lighting. Also thinking about modding the rear door handles to light up as well- although that's gonna be slightly more complicated.

The more I drive at night, the more I miss the foot well LEDs. I want to put some in. For the drivers side, it should be easy as I can just use the nearby fuse box for power. Any ideas on how to do the passenger side without too much trouble?

I should think that it would be an easy job to run the driver's side in series with the passenger side once you pop out the footwell panels out. A coat hanger should pass behind the console with little effort to get the wire across.

I wonder if you could modify this to work:

click -> Interior Ilumination (except Sport) - 08E10-T2A-100A - College Hills Honda

I don't have a TLX yet :-/. But I did this in my 04 TSX and it was easy. Blue pre wired LEDs from superbrightleds.com and wired into any lit switch. On the TLX I would most likely tap into the wires that light up the little consol tray

Well, they should be wired to only turn on with the overhead lights, ideally fading gently in and out as well. You'd want to find the wire heading to the dome light itself, I'd think, as the only way to make that happen.

Perhaps you could identify the specific dome light wire to splice into from the fuse box and follow it, but I am skeptical it would be easily accessible (i.e. right under the glove box or something), and I don't want to be cutting new holes in the firewall to wire it myself. Either way, this sounds like more than 30 minutes of work.

I bought 2 blue LED strips a couple days ago with the hopes of installing them. It'll be a few more days till I get them. The driver's side is somewhat easy - there's a fuse box there. Ideally I'd like to have it wired so they turn on when the headlights do but it seems the headlight fuse is in the engine bay - any other options? The passenger side seemed a bit tougher. I found various wires under the dash but not quite sure which one to use - any ideas?

I'll admit that I wouldn't mind having a little more ambient lighting. I do love the way my CTS has the subtle white "theater lighting" around the dash and the footwells. I may at some point try to add some lighting, but it's not a major area of concern for me.

Did anyone try to get that accord lighting accessory? It looks like it would probably work, but the installation looks a little time consuming.

I've been installing footwell LEDs as a DIY-er and it is generally pretty straightforward. Hopefully the TLX is the same since drilling new holes would be like drilling my heart
