ELS Speaker/Amplifier Upgrade

I've had my 2.4 with tech package for about four months, and I've grown increasingly dissatisfied with the the sound of the ELS system. I listen to a lot of classical music and talk radio/podcasts and find the output thin and lacking presence or warmth. The subwoofer seems to add nothing but thump.
Has anyone undertaken a speaker and/or amplifier upgrade, either with the whole system or the subwoofer (I'm hoping that a better subwoofer might at least add some kind of depth to the overall sound).
I'd be very interested in hearing what you did. Thanks

Haven't upgraded the speakers or amplifier in the TLX, but if you want a subwoofer that doesn't just add "thump," look into getting a subwoofer that is placed in a sealed enclosure. When you have a subwoofer in a ported box, it really makes it loud and thump hard, but a sealed enclosure will help you to get clean bass in the highs and lows.

I just switched the ANC off and the difference is remarkable. I've only had my TLX V6 Tech Package for 3 days, but was beginning to wonder if I made an expensive mistake after realizing the ELS system was just not very good. I switched ANC off before leaving work and drove home an hour feeling much better about my purchase. It now sounds like a premium system. Not the best out there, but respectable. With ANC turned on, it was well subpar.

How did you switch your ANC off? I was under the impression that the mics had to be disconnected to get around it.
