Question Disk Repeat function?

I am totally confused about the DTS CD repeat function on the Advance 2015 TLX. There it is, in the right center of the touch screen. An almost complete circular image with a "1" in its left. Touch it and it has background lighting. Either way, the disk repeats ALWAYS. You have to eject it, or choose another Audio Source to stop it. I would like it to play once and stop somehow.

What gives?

It seems to me that all cars auto-repeat (start at track 1 after the disc completes last track) the disc in the player until you select a new source or eject. I think it is done to eliminate silence.. of course my memeory could ba failing instead

PWS443; After the disc finishes, there are 3 options
(1) turn off the audio, altogether
(2) Eject the CD & replace it
(3) Choose another audio option
FYI: the disc repeats, continuously; to my knowledge, there is no stop function, other than turning the audio OFF, altogether.

Then why does the button change state when tapped? Why does it exist? Why is there air?

I'm not quite sure why there is air but I think I can take a stab at the existence of the "repeat" button:

At least with the upgraded ODMB software, when playing a CD, there are three selection buttons available on the screen: Scan, Random, and Repeat. The system is defaulted to "Repeat", so when you tap that button- it lights up (or changes visual state) to show selection- but since it is already in that mode- it "seems" to do nothing. However, if you were to, for example, then tap the "Random" button- that would light up and start playing the tracks in a random fashion. Tapping the "Repeat" button after hitting the Random button would set the tracks back into sequential order (and then the button makes sense).

The "1" in the circle and the arrows on top of the button are just icons for the button action.

It would be pretty cool that perhaps a "press and hold for 2 seconds" of the Repeat button would put the system into a "non-repeat" mode; and perhaps they could throw a "Pause" button in too while they are at it…

So, the "existence" of the button is to take the control OUT of "Random" or "Scan" mode should those be selected first.

I like your thinking. I have the ST03 version, I believe. I think ST04 should implement some of your choices. I just want a way to have the disk stop. (and, BTW: DTS CDs behave differently than CDs. They don't record, ala USB, and display on the screen differently.)

And what does ODMB stand for?

Sorry, that was a typo. It is "ODMD", which stands for "On Demand Multi-use Display"- which is just the center touchscreen that displays and controls the audio, phone, and climate control stuff.

I wish I could get a few DTS's to listen to in my TLX. I used to have the DVD-A discs in my prior Acura's, and I miss them. (I believe that I was able to even record DVD-A to the HDD in my last Acura…). Maybe one day I'll try to dig up my old discs and try a conversion software to generate a DTS disc.

I took all 30 of my DVD-As I had for my 04 TL (and my Oppo BDP-93), and used a trial version of DVD Audio Extractor to create .cue/.dtswav file sets. Failed miserably with Nero to burn the DTS CD, but PowerISO did just fine. Ignore the 300mb warning, I created full CDs. I could edit the .cue file to add a -1 or -2 to the title if the disk was too large (as with BD disks), and select the tracks from the dtswav to burn. Worked like a champ!

You CANNOT record DVD/A's to HDD; NEVER could, because of the size of the files
That said, my DTS CD's sound AMAZING in my new TLX/ELS system
IMHO Gaucho/DTS, sounds better than my DVD/A version in my 2012 TL/ELS
There are nuances that I never heard before
Don't get me wrong, DVD/A is a better all around format, & I wish we still had, but DTS works almost as well
My only complaint, is that several of my downloaded DTS discs skip on certain passages
Anyway, IORR & I like it!
