Best Quality ELS Music Source

With the ELS Audio System our TLX's have, what music source provides the best experience ?

Do certain music formats sound better over others ? Are there specific titles specifically made for ELS ?

Thanks in advance !

Quite simple, really
DTS CD's, hands down!
Formats matter; my suggestions include:
Steely Dan/Gaucho
Eagles/Hell Freezes Over
Paul McCartney/Band on the Run
Dave Grusin/West Side Story
Allman Brothers/Live at the Fillmore East
If you can make your own, try Jethro Tull/Aqualung
Fleetwood Mac/Rumours
Pink Floyd/DSOTM, or Wish You Were Here
Dozens of others
ENJOY!

As much as it pains me to say this - I find most Smooth Jazz songs sound awesome with the ELS! Seriously - it's tuned for great mid and high range music with a little low end which fits the Smooth "Jazz" genre perfectly.

Acura TLX - It's That kind of Thrill for balding middle aged fans of Smooth Jazz...

Hmm OK, all good suggestions...to clarify also, I'm asking whether it makes a difference if on XM, CD's, an iPod / Phone, etc is being used as the source -

You're missing the point: DTS is the ONLY source; (played through the CD slot), that's 5.1 Surround sound.
All the other formats, are "faux" surround
I'd say, the IPod, probably has the best dynamic range, of the rest
HDD, BT/Audio, CD's, are close behind, IMHO

Thank You, I didn't realize DTS was an an actual CD - so how does one actually "shop" for CD's that are DTS ?

Try the Internet; Amazon, etc.
Also, there's a site called 5.1 Surround; very expensive, but they sell out of print DTS discs

Creating Your Own DTS CDs

If you want to create your own DTS CDs from DVD Audio discs, DVDs or Blurays, then take a look at this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-b...ersion-918969/

In terms of best sound, no question--CDs (I haven't tried DTS CDs--didn't even know we could play them in TLX) and HDD (if you've got high resolution downloads), followed way far behind by FM radio (NPR stations and classical tend to be less compressed), bluetooth (which has built-in frequency limitations), iTunes (compromised from the start), and XM (even their "high fidelity" stations sound like MP3s).

I have found that bluetooth signals usually sound far better than XM or FM (which is pitiful). Even some streamed signals sound very good. I can't hear past 14Khz anyways but for instance Stingray streams are very clear and uncompressed sounding. As good as many CDs I have (though CD quality generally varies enormously). So many recent recordings are just flat and compressed.
