Anybody miss the DVD-A capability?

I sure as heck do. My 2016 TLX is my first Acura without it. It doesn't make sense to me that it was not included in the 5G, especially since the cars still have a single-slot CD. The quality is worlds above iTunes, Android, etc.

I miss it too. Only had a couple DVD-A's but they really sounded good in the 2nd Gen RL I had for a bit.

I do, but i would be happy to listen to DTS CDs, which have, I think, a comparable format to provide true 5.1 surround music. Both are very difficult to find.

Damn right, I do!
I have 50+ titles that sounded INCREDIBLE, in my prior, TL's/ELS system
People were amazed, at how good music could sound, in a car
You have to remember, these discs, were MASTERED from the original source, in 5.1 SURROUND
Too many to list; my favorite 2 were: "The Nightfly" Donald Fagen, & GBYBR Elton John
Maxine, & Funeral for a Friend, were sonic delights; as well as hundreds of others
It's a shame, that the nitwit sales people Acura, were clueless, when it came to audio
DTS 5.1 discs are good, but not great, with few exceptions
"Gaucho", & "Hell freezes Over", to name a few

Lest we forget the Police - Every Breath You Take DVD-A. When I leased my 2012 TSX Tech with ELS, my dealer gave it to me. Fabulous!

Yikes, I didn't even know people ever used DVD-A; I pretty much assumed it was a still-born technology which was ignored by, well, everybody.

I have both DVD-A and SACD in my home system. One of my "motivating features" in getting an Acura was the ability to playback DVD-A.

If I now put this in perspective of real life...a couple of years ago I added a Pioneer head unit to my non smart and non connected Frontier. It was my first jump into both Bluetooth and USB in a vehicle. The first thing I realized was that lugging around a case of disks in a vehicle really sucked, especially when I could fit a TON of music onto a USB stick(sure there is a sound quality issue, but to me it was a huge upgrade in sound swapping speakers and headunit anyway).

The other piece about disks, is the amount of handling issues in and out of the transport and scratching. If the DVD-A disks were easily replaceable- I'd say go for it. However- I do understand that many of our DVD-A's are unobtainium right now. Not sure I would want to bring my discs into a mobil

I miss it a lot. My best DVD-A's (Beatles, Dire Straits) were a wonderful listening experience.
