TLX vs. RLX.. the good, the bad & (not so) ugly
I was asked by a few members to do a comparison between the '15 TLX SH-AWD Advance and the '16 RLX Advance P-AWS. I have the CBP/ebony combo.
What I miss about the TLX:
What I don't miss about the TLX:
The RLX, being the flagship, has most all the amenities a luxury car would be expected to have. However, the RLX lacks HUD which I still don't understand why Acura has not implemented this yet. The Hyundai Genesis can be had with it as well and many American cars.
The ride is very smooth. Which I like better than the TLX (even before I lowered it). The seats are very comfortable but lacking adjustable thigh support which would be an nice option (had that in the GS350 F-Sport).
Most of the technology is the same in both, the steering wheel is nearly identical so hopping out of the TLX into the RLX was hard to tell apart in that sense. Center stack is almost identical as well
The differences:
The RLX has:
I really like the RLX after what I went through with the TLX. That said, unless Acura changes it's philosophy and adds more cars to the line-up, this will most likely be my last Acura.
Anyway, I will get some pictures posted up soon. I just had the windows tinted, deck lid spoiler and splash guards installed on Tuesday, 10/6/15.
Here she is prior to having the accessories added:

Thanks for reading!
What I miss about the TLX:
- The Black Copper Pearl paint (gorgeous color)
- The Expresso interior
- Fog lights
What I don't miss about the TLX:
- The transmission!!!!

The differences:
The RLX has:
- Krell audio system. I am blown away by how much better this sounds compared to the ELS in the TLX. I thought the ELS was quite decent until I sat in the RLX.
- 360 degree cameras for parking and the steering wheel has a button to cycle through the cameras.
- Powered steering wheel adjustment
- Rear (powered) and side window shades (manual)
- Buttons for vented/Heater seats
- Heated steering wheel
- Heated rear seats
- Trunk (boot?) lid opens all the way when remote or button is pushed.
- The RLX comes in extremely limited color combos which I find disheartening but Acura isn't wanting to give us many options, obviously.
- Cost. I find the differences in MSRP to be a bit high in the RLX but since they aren't selling worth a damn, dealerships will deal on them just to move them.
- .. ummmmm, can't think of any.
I really like the RLX after what I went through with the TLX. That said, unless Acura changes it's philosophy and adds more cars to the line-up, this will most likely be my last Acura.

Great write up Stew..
And yes, the Black Cooper paint on the TLX is awesome especially when the sun hits it at certain angles..

I think the RLX is one of the best looking vehicles on the road today. I would have purchased one in a heartbeat over my TLX I4 Tech if it wasn't for that pesky extra $20K in MSRP ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Enjoy it, man. Absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks for the nice write-up!
It's funny you say that, I'm finding myself saying the same thing after owning the 1G and 2G RL. I honestly don't know if I can get myself to get an RLX as my next car...

Thanks for the write-up Stew - glad you're enjoying the new ride!
I know what you mean about Acura - there are so many really good options out there from other brands - I'm already excited about what my choices will be 5 or 6 years down the road when it's time to trade out of my TLX. I hope Acura/Honda has something to keep me interested - I prefer to stay with them as I've been driving nothing but Hondas (except for one Mazda 6) since 1986!

The 6 speed shifts smooth as silk.
I do notice that the RPM at 75 is quite different between the 2 cars. The RLX sits at around 2500RPM whereas I seem to recall the TLX being closer to 1500 RPM. If I am mistaken about the TLX, please let me know.

Yeah, he's ours now and our small numbers have been bolstered.
Today, Stew. Tomorrow....the world...MUAHAHAHAHA.
A minor error: HUD is available on the RLX Sport Hybrid and it is the bee's knees. Honestly, it should be available on at least the Advance model of the PAWS RLX.

I feel way better having only paid $30,5000 for a car with 5 miles on the odometer (that I also love).

Are they selling for way under MSRP?
Comments on this link says 17K under MSRP for cars with 500 miles?!

There were more available and with half as many miles for around the same price a few months back. I think people are starting to realize the bargain a gently used RLX Tech or Advance is and are snapping them up.
Seeing used RLX Sport Hybrid for just under $60K. In a year, maybe they'll be closer to $50K? Now that'd be a bargain.

I'd stay away from early 2014 RLX PAWS like the plague. JMO. There's a reason they're so cheap. If someone insists on buying one, make sure it has every TSB addressed and check the suspension by driving it before purchase, to avoid later disappointment.
Later 2014s and all the 2015s are fine. Stew4HD was smart buying a new 2016, as the infotainment interface was finally updated to what the TLX has.
Keeping on topic: Nice comparison.![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
The rumor is that there are going to be only 250 2016s, just like there were only 250 2014s. Even if Acura manages to deliver more than 250, the Sport Hybrid is a low-volume car, even more rare than my already über-rare unicorn 6MT CTS-V wagon.
Don't get me wrong, I actually like the TLX. I'd be in a SH-AWD version if the back seat weren't so damned small.

I loved the RLX in all other ways, but for the TLX to have virtually all the same bells and whistles, a better ride, and a lower price was too much for me to resist.

I remember when the TLX came out, I believe you could get the RLX Tech for not much more than the TLX Advance.
I didn't like the RLX when it first came out, but as time went on, I really started liking it. I sat in one (but didn't drive it) when I was out looking for a TLX. The only negative I had about the car was it was a bit bigger vehicle than I wanted.
