Tlx in the snow - non shawd

Well I must admit I was worried a little about this tlx in the snow after all the talk about its tires ( and the fact I've never had an automatic and manual is a far safer bet in snow). But this massive cold storm gave me my first chance to see how it does.....not bad at all. Maybe I just set the bar low due to all the bad tire comments but I had no issues today and yesterday getting through some less than ideal conditions. At this point I see no reason to replace the tires or leave the tlx in the garage in favor of my 4wd unless the conditions are truly crazy. Pics included just as evidence that it wasn't childs play out there. Sure it gets worse but zero issues in this stuff is a good sign.

P.s. Missed the Dash with the temp which read -3 for these pics...cold!!

Wait! Do you mean -3 C or F? That will make a huge difference... LOL

Without rubbing it in, I am loving the heated steering wheel and heated seat in my Canadian TLX

Related question --can the tlx use chains? I know some cars cannot, due to wheel clearances. It looks like a fairly spacious wheel well though, right?

As a new model, no websites that sell chains have any listed for this car yet.

Excellent pictures with the car and snow. I occasionally miss snow. We don't get much here in South Florida. Last time it snowed was some time in 1977 and you had to look hard to see it gather on the windshield. I did live in Maryland (5 years) and Tennessee (1 year), but nothing as cold as Canada or the northern states. Enjoy!

I chickened out and worked from home today (Wednesday) and plan to tomorrow (Thursday). Traffic in Denver was just too insane to do the commute. Glad to hear you didn't have much in the way of any problems -- gives me some confidence for the days I know I won't be working from home.

Congrats on your first snow experience with your TLX....Seems that you did well!

Not looking forward to our significant snowfall up here in Eastern Canada....I'll make sure to post pics at some point and show you guys what hell we go through.

I hear you ZaxDude. I'm off the highways for my commute luckily, so that helps. I wouldn't want any part of i25, i225, or i70 on days like this

I hear ya, but sadly I get the resulting joy of i25 and i70 regularly, along with the dreaded Colorado Blvd (for a road that has 3 lanes in both directions I am still amazed at how bad it is for traffic flow). I work from home in the winter whenever I can....

But at least I have the comfort of the TLX to make the trip a bit more enjoyable!

On p. 464 of the owners manual :

Because your vehicle has limited tire clearance, we strongly recommend using the
chains listed below:

Cable-type: QCC Premium Cobra 1042P with tensioner 0212

Hehe, I missed Ohio's snow too, Steve. After growing up there, spending several years in Florida, and now California you develop some nostalgia for it.

Then I have flashbacks of walking outside on a Midwest morning, temperatures hovering around -15F and having to be careful not to breath in through your nose to rapidly lest the snot crystalize in it.

Hmph. I WISH I could miss Ohio's snow after being hit a month earlier than usual, then receiving another shot tonight, then more lake effect tomorrow afternoon. I can't talk my wife out of leaving this frozen spithole.

^^And it has just started. Hang in there, go buy a beater or a used CRV for the winter, and take up cross country skiing. It will help the months go by quickly and waiting for that shiny new TLX in April.

Invest a set of Winter Sport and you'll love it even more. I had a set for my father's TL and he loves it.
