TLX insurance rates?
What are you seeing for insurance rates compared to what you are paying for current vehicle?
Had my agent give me a quote, and while the did not have the TLX in their system yet, she said she was able to get very close to actual premium by using MSRP.
My 6 month premium increased by $180 over what I am paying for the MDX .....wtf and I am 55 years old and have an excellent driving record.
The biggest increases were for comp and collision.

I got my VIN today so I called GEICO to get an insurance quote. The same coverage I have for my TL, which costs $600/6 months, will cost $900 for my TLX!
The agent told me the increase is due to the fact that the replacement cost has increased a great deal since my TL is 10 years old. I'm going to shop around.

I got a quote from State Farm for $1174/6, Allstate is $1573/6, and Progressive is $980/6.
Not sure if this is true, but the Progressive agent told me in addition to the increased replacement cost, the higher premium is due to the fact that parts for the TLX are more difficult and more expensive to obtain than other brands.
I guess I have no choice but to stick with GEICO. I assume as the car ages the premium will decrease. I was just surprised the quote was so high.

I know there are a lot of variables considered in insurance quotes, but you're coming from an older car too so your replacement value has increased considerably. I have a clean driving record too, and get all sorts of discounts from GEICO. I'm really surprised my premium went up $600 a year on the TLX.
Coming from 2013 Tsx w/ tech $594 every 6 months ( that includes a single car accident I had earlier this year in January..blaming it on the ice) and now I have been quoted for the TLX 2.4 @ $674 every 6 months. That's an $80 increase every 6 months. I thought it may would have gone down with all the new safety features that were not previously available on my TSX. My agent when he did a quote he said man that's a high symbol! It could be worse I suppose.
For me in Denver, CO with Geico I'm at $428.74 every 6 months on my TLX Tech 4-cyl.
Coverages: Bodily Injury @ $250k/$500k; Uninsured Motorist @ $100k/$300k; Property Damage Liability @ $100k. Deductible is at $500 on collision and $50 on comprehensive.
My 2012 Chevy Volt with exact same coverages was $417.14.

Mine with Geico (NC) use to be $440 every 6 months until the accident I had this year in January. $500 deductible on both comp/collision and uninsured motorist 30/60/25 which are state minimum requirements. Geico then wanted to charge me $700+ every 6 months afterwards..I had $4 grand worth of damages to the front end of my tsx on the accident in Jan. 14 and shopped around after the insanely high quote they offered me.
I have insurance with MetLife. I previously had a 2011 TSX. Going to a 2015 TLX raised my insurance by $8 a year. I was amazed. Usually the insurance companies try to find a reason to gouge you for a lot.

every zip code has a different rate.
every vehicle is based on MSRP.
drivers age and experience.
claim history.
drivers in household driving record.
some even count your Credit Score.
so what is the point of this thread?
nothing to compare here since too many variables effect the premium.
and one note: someone posted their liability limits and they have different amounts for Liability for Uninsured Drivers; thats seems stupid to me. You have less coverage is someone without insurance hits you?
all of those amounts should be the same.
and if you need more liabiltiy get a blanket coverage for a million or two.

If you were referring to my post, it may seem stupid to you. But it doesn't seem stupid to me....
I have $100,000 in property damage liability coverage because cars are just too costly to go with the required minimums. Sometimes I wonder if 100k is enough. I bumped the Uninsured motorist up to 100/300 from the minimums because the difference in cost was minimal (as in $5 or $10 for 6 months). And that "Uninsured" just doesn't cover for "Uninsured" -- it also covers for "Under-Insured", and it covers not just property damage but also helps cover costs related to bodily injury.
I also have a million in coverage under an umbrella policy.
To me, it seems totally reasonable to have as much coverage as one can afford as it relates to the cost of state mandated minimums (which are typically not nearly enough). If I can double, or even triple, that coverage for a few bucks, then I'm going to do it. Doesn't seem stupid to me at all....

I don't have actual details on rate yet but my insurance rep told me it would be a little less than I was paying on my previous car because of the safety features on the new TLX. I had a 2013 ILX before I switched to TLX V6 Tech.

ZAXdude, good to here. im also in Denver, (2.4l base) using USAA and have similar coverages and im at $436/ 6 months... so looks pretty similar. helpful to know.
I think basically if you're coming from an older car like I am, a 2004 TL w/230K miles, your insurance rate is going to increase just because of the increase in replacement value.
I was paying $611/6 months for my TL. When I first requested a quote from GEICO they told me my premium would go up to $911/6 months (ouch!), but once I actually got the binder it was "only" $731/6 months. I wanted the exact coverage I had for my TL, so it's possible the first agent's quote incorrectly included increased coverage. Anyway I'm not complaining about the rate not being as high as I anticipated.

I haven't yet seen any other TLX's on the road yet in the Denver area....just a matter of time, tho I'm sure.
My insurance barely went up, maybe $35 a month. Considering im going from a purchased 2005 RL to a leased 2015 TLX, im very happy and expected worse. I have AllState for my insurance carrier, they stated because of all the safety features my vehicle has (FCW, Blind Spot Detector & LKA) i received multiple discounts which lowered my premium $750 over 6 months.
If you're unhappy with your rate I would highly suggest switching insurance companies. I left Geico last year for AllState with the same amount of insurance for my RL (Full Coverage) and saved over $100 MONTHLY. There's no harm in looking for a better deal, your insurance company can drop you anytime.. it might be time to drop them.

My wife and I upgraded from her completely stripped down 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer ES to the 2.4 TLX. Needless to say I was nervous to hear the quote when I called. Surprisingly, we found our rates only went up $19.xx per month with State Farm on a $500 deductible.
Here in Alberta my insurance went down very slightly from a TSX MT base @$32,000 to a 2.4 tech TLX at around $40,000. I have one hit - I got a hit and run about 4 years ago and one speeding ticket. I think earlier speeding tickets have expired.
