Modding is modding and affects the warranty accordingly. Are there no factory endorsed tunes from Audi anymore?

 

Junk? I don't know if I'd go that far. I had an E34 back in the day. It was like a tank, best built car I've owned. That V8 is freakin awesome, I chipped it. The car steers and handles better than the TL. But the car had TONS of electrical issues.

It's no exaggeration how unreliable certain Bimmers are, I'd only buy one again till 50k and sell even though that is a major hit on resale. It's no accident that you see so many used BMW on autotrader all the time at that 5yr mark.

 

Modding is not modding when it comes to a boosted vehicle. Unlike an intake or exhaust, a tune can have major effects on the entire powertrain.

Think about it; blaming a blown motor, or DSG failure on an exhaust would be a stretch, but doing so after the additional stress of another 50+ hp from an aftermarket tune is pretty much a slam dunk for any dealer.

Stasis had an agreement similar to Dinan where they would pick up the warranty themselves. The company is now defunct; but even when it was around, it was never factory endorsed.

P.S. the current A6 came out 3 years ago, and the 5 series is coming up on 5 now, so things weren't that different 5 years ago.
