Road noise

To TLX owners, how is the road noise on the car at high speeds? I know that the wind noise is very minimal, but was curious about the road/tire noise. I own a 2012 TL and the road noise is pretty bad imo. I'm from socal so the roads here dont help at all. it's quiet in asphalt but once you hit cement... woof. my lease is up in 3 months and im strongly considering the TLX. comments/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

road noise is A LOT better in the TLX compared to the 4G TL, you'll find it to be a great highway car!

I recommend the Tech for the Lane keeping Assist, it's worth it.

Even with the tires I put on it (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s) it is still eerily quiet. :-)

While the TLX is not the most quiet thing on earth it is definitely up there. Ive previously owned a 2004 TL and a 2010 TSX and compared to those my TLX is nearly silent. Compared with say a Lexus GS/ES the TLX isn't quite as quiet but it also doesn't cost nearly as much optioned. Overall I have no complaints at all about the road noise, something i can't say for other Acura products I've owned. Go test drive one, and i dont mean the little 5 minute drive most dealers choose. Go take one out on the highway and i bet you will be throughly impressed!

Also I second the Tech comment. The lane keeping assist is well worth it!!

The quietness is a big part of why I bought the car.

It is almost as quiet as my RLX - I am very pleased with my Adv model.

The TLX is silent in comparison to other Acura models, and noticeable in the first few feet of driving. Then you climb into a TL or TSX after and wonder who left a window open...

It's a great experience and one of the first vehicles we've had (the new MDX and RLX were the first closest to this) that previous Lexus, etc. customers drive and are as impressed by the quiet as they've been used to.

Only a bit of variance depending on the road surface and tires, but not much. Silent is the word, with nice power train sounds.

Yes , this was one of the positive points on TLX favor , but not enough to make me switch.

I compared the Cadillac, BMW, Audi, Volvo, Mercedes, and Infiniti models before I purchased the TLX. The TLX was the last one I tested and it's quietness was the first thing that struck me when I drove it. It was so quiet that I immediately went back to compare the new C Class again for comparison. To me, the TLX is nearly as quiet, and certainly the quietest of the other 5 makes I tested.

In our busy lives, a lot of our "quality time conversation" occurs when we are driving. I absolutely wanted a car in which my wife and I could hold conversation in a normal speaking voice. The TLX offers that.

To add a reference point, I also have a '13 Lexus ES, and I can't hear any difference in the wind or road noise. Both are extremely quiet. The Lexus has Michelin, Acura Goodyear.

As per all the comments here, I am very impressed with the quietness of this car, 2.4 or 3.5. I always get undercoating not only for the rust factor with winter salted roads but for the extra protection from road noise.

I've had 6 Acura's since '98; 1 CL; 4TL's, & my new baby; 2015 SH-AWD TLX/Tech
No comparison, as far as quiet goes; kudo's to Acura R&D, for much better noise isolation; especially, on the highway.
Great car!

Overall my TLX offers a quiet ride but sometimes I seem to be getting some wind noise from the front driver's window.

It's so quiet that when you get a little wind noise, it's noticeable

I agree that the TLX is incredibly quiet. But I've noticed that because it's sealed so well acoustically, the car really fogs up inside when it's humid. When it's raining and I drive into my garage I can't see through any of the windows. I have to roll them down and turn on the a/c and fan so I can park.

Leaving the system on Auto will keep that from happening. When you turn off the a/c function in the winter, it's harder for the car to control the humidity.

Good advice to keep the A/C on auto as it also help to keep the pump lubricated. I have had a couple of occasions of driving into a underground enclosed parking building where the difference in temperature and humidity where enough to fog up the inside(-10C to 15C and 20% to 40%). The system does not react fast enough on its own and manual use of the windshield defroster is required.

...that would be the same if you break wind I assume. Then throw in the comment that Narnia made: "the car really fogs up inside when it's humid"....

A wet fart and I am done! Maybe the TLX isn't for me afterall....*lol*

^^ You have solved my life's worst problem....Thanks buddy! I used to put tin foil on the seat but that only accentuated the noise issue.

It appears that I am good to go again...I'll talk to my dealer to speed up an order of a TLX SH-AWD in white with brown interior and body kit

For the record....we had virtually no snow on the ground as of yesterday, but we had our first of 4 major snow storm last night. I suspect that when we are done in about 1.5 week from now, we'll have about 4 feet of fresh snow. Can I come for a visit for a few weeks?

Or come north to Toronto, only a minor dusting on the ground from snow about a week ago, and roads are dry and clear. Today we have beautiful blue skies, with no snow in the forecast for the next 4 days and a high of 31 today (unfortunately not Celsius).

We were being forecast +20 for Monday. And that is Celsius. I'll believe it when it happens...it will demolish all records for Calgary. This is average June temp....now downgraded to 12. Still awesome.

You will find that TLX is a very quiet car. As a comparison, it is as quiet as a Lexus GS. At least, I cannot tell the difference.

I test drove the TLX 4cycl, V6, and the RLX hybrid. The TLX is way quieter than the RLX hybrid. It was really noticeable. The salesman agreed with me...the TLX is much quieter than even the RLX hybrid.

I think they're both pretty quiet, however since the TLX is newer, it's possible they learned something from the RLX? However, it's generally accepted that the smallest difference the human ear can discern, is 3dB. It seems unlikely that one would be 3dB removed from the other. That's a lot!
