So someone on TOV pointed this out, but it is likely that these are not US spec models. They cars appear to have rear fog lights, headlights washers, and clear corner lamps front and rear. This is quite possibly an export only model so there is still a possibility that the US spec model could still be different from this.

Yeah I mentioned the rear fog lights in the left taillight.
And since the Chinese spy shots of TLX has the same wheels I'm hooping we get different ones (after all the TLX is being exported to other places) so it makes since if we see non-US TLX's ATM.
They probably made non-US TLX's first to have them shipped out to foreign dealers. that way by time they get there our TLX's will also be at our dealers and training and on sale dates can be all at the same time.

The more I look at it from the A pillar forward in a lot of these shots it looks like the logical evolution of the 3G TL! I sense and I bet they know that and did it intentionally. The proportions lines and even the front end. Do a Type-S with some nice trim treatment and I can see myself in one in 2 years.
#45
A little more chrome surrounding the fog lights a la the prototype would be nice and aggressive without being over the top.
Something about the front grill still doesn't jive. Too much chrome still IMHO. Current Acura grill works well on the SUVs, but the sedan's grill needs to be tweaked IMHO.

Fucking love it! I see it as either a larger ILX or smaller RLX, either way it's right in line with establishing the next gen "Acura" look and feel that is consistent across the models, yet different enough to distinguish the tiers. They've needed this for a long time and looks like they are finally getting it.
Depending on the performance, features, final interior design and price, this could bring me back to the mid-tier from my RLX when my lease is up in 2 years. While I love my RLX, I do miss the nimble performance and handling of my old 3G TL. Great to see that I'll now have an option. Stoked!

Looks decent but I'm not gonna wait for that. It's not special enough for me. I'll save $$$ and lease a 2014 TL Advance for the time being. Maybe Acura will spruce it up for the MMC in I'm guessing 2017.
#48
Absolutely much better. Simple, classy, yet sporty and aggressive, perfect blend. They definitely need to offer some better rim options than those default spokes in the spyshots.

That rear is lovely, If Acura did that it would really change the whole outlook on their cars. Love my CL ass, esp when i step down and know all they see is pipes and lights but i am liking the look so far,

I like J-Lo the way she is, no mixture between Uma Thurman & J-Lo.
Of course everything is a matter of personal taste!

Man, that front end looks just like an evolved 3G with a set of jewel-eye headlights. In some of the shots, I love this car. In others, it's kind of bland. It may be something I have to see in person. I really didn't care for the RLX in pics, but liked it in person. I didn't care much for the Q50 in pics, but liked it in person.
Props to Timmy18 for making some of these pics look pretty sweet just by upgrading the wheels.
Also, something I noticed in previous spyshots : For some reason, the white one doesn't have the sharkfin on the roof, but the black one does. Is this a SiriusXM-less model or something? Not sure what the functionality for the sharkfin is nowadays.

I agree....If I do get a TLX, I am bringing Timmy18 to Canada and I'll let him modify my car to make it look like the stuff he does with photoshop. Its amazing how Acura can't deliver a product that pleases but Timmy18 just works a little of photoshop and almost everyone loves what he does! Why wouldn't Acura bring this guy in and say, OK, please do something with our blandness.
Also...I am surprised this story hasn't hit Motor Trend or Car and Driver yet.....

I think the front looks fantastic. Sadly the rear is a snooze fest. TLX is more TSX than it is a TL... and if Acura prices this comparably with the top trim Honda Accord V6... it's gonna be one tough decision. TLX seems VERY similar to an Accord now.

As far as I can tell, they're building cars for you and me, and nobody else.

George... Don't get me wrong, I am not saying the TLX is a flop. I think that once we see the car with better wheels and a few accessories, this car will be an improvement.
I just feel the front would have been better without the fog lights....

As always Timmy18 delivers! Acura? Not so sure if they delivered or wtf they delivered.
When they said they are merging the TSX and the TL they really meant it. But what came out is a bit of an abortion.
Pulling a bait and switch compare to what the prototype looked like is not very ethical, in my humble opinion.
In any case, once again, kudos to Timmy18 for the great work!
Tim... do a red one to compare it to the prototype.

That's what's so odd. In the galloping-demonic-mechanical-horses-at-the-track commercial, there were LED strips there. I know that was CGI, but that's a bit of a letdown. But again, I'll wait to see it in the flesh before deciding on looks. I was expecting a 7 or 8, but the spyshots are giving me a 5 or 6. The spyshot of the supposed interior is kind of worrying me, as well. We'll see ...

Time to start sharpening those Dremels and start cutting bumpers to get some exhaust tips out there I bet you the aftermarket guys are already laughing on their way to the bank when they saw the production version. Too bad not much can be done about the interior (agree with Rocketsfan, I worry too). Those center console vents look like they came from a Ford Focus (in French pronounced: Fack-us).

So much dislike for the TLX, like seriously a large amount of members simple do not like the changes Acura has made.
Oh well, all I know as Acura is on my list when its time for an upgrade in the next two years. I like the rear, one less thing to polish and clean (eg. tail pipes) hehehe

Oh my goodness.... I came back from work and then I saw this MESS!!! Ouch....
What happened to the TLX Prototype!? That had just the right amount of "bling" and "premium look". MB and BMW these days have even more "bling" in their production cars than that TLX Prototype did! And Acura had to take it away to make it boring just to sell to the masses!? Oh no........
Now that Bimmer is looking more and more attractive as my next car....

I'm not going to get too excited about these pics one way or another. I don't think this car is the US version. The white car has no shark fin antenna so it must be an entry level trim but it has backup sensors and headlight washers. And both cars look like they have the "Acura" name on the back which US cars don't. I was also thinking the tail lights would be much more similar, if not identical to the prototype car based on a comment that was made in one of the videos.
So while the sheet metal may be the same, I think some of the details will be different in the US model. And yes those wheels are about the worst looking wheels I've seen in any new car.
We all knew the production car would be toned down a bit from the Prototype. The front kept more character than I thought. Yes the rear is a little boring, but the prototype taillight could help that. It certainly loses that excitement, but I think you really need to see the car in person. Especially the interior. So my mind is still open, just hoping for those folding rear seats!
So I still think there is hope that the US version will look a bit better than the cars in these pictures.

I'm sorry but Acura messed up this car. The only thing they had going was the MDX. The ILX, TLX and RLX are hideous. I can't wait for the TLX to come out and see the sale numbers for Acura as a whole. They hit a home run with the 3G and have been fumbling ever since. Once I'm ready to get rid of my 3G Acura won't be an option.
#70
If Acura incorporated some of Timmy18's mods into the production version I would be excited. However, unless they come up with some absolutely killer deals (which I know won't happen right off) or the interior blows me away at this point I'm more inclined to either buy my 4g off-lease or jump ship altogether. Sorry Acura but first impressions tell me I need to move on - there's nothing to see here!
#71
I look at the prototype, then I look at these new shots, and my heart sinks. It just doesn't pop, there's no excitement. Then I look at my 4G, and I still love it. I'll reserve final judgment until we see all the options, but at least these early photos are a disappointment

The plastic "chrome" and the center console vents, straight out of a cheap Hyundai, are alarming to say the least.
Acura should have a plan to go after the 3G guys and girls who eventually will need a new car. WOW! them with the TLX. Otherwise they lost them to Audi.

Timmy18, if you have any free time, can you photoshop the front grill (ie. get rid of the chrome beak and replace it with black "v-bars" with an "A" emblem in the middle)?

Me too. I like what he did with the chops. New wheels really changed the look. BTW looking at the pic with the RS7 wheels, I can't help but to notice how much the TLX looks like the 3G TL. Definitely not a bad thing.

while those spy shots do not wow people, I think this is very good design. Lets wait for the final judgement in April. I believe there must be little more aggressive add-ons for sh-awd & optioned version. ( I dont think this is high-end trim)
Imagine how Honda is doing on their accord. each trim adds more stuff on accord. (Wheels, LED on the front, etc.)
Even current TL without any option + bodykit accessories looks very *naked*.
