Acura, you cant win with a Polarizing design (4G)
and you cant win with a lame design (TLX)

the 4G looks so much better than that thing.

 

i would take the tlx, over the 4g, but sumthing would need to be done with the wheels, something closer to the prototype wheels or vossens?

 

The thing is that from the rear, all of these "sport" sedans are almost indistinguishable from one another.

I'm not too pleased with these photos. Hopefully, they will have a better trim than this. The wheels and no skirt makes this car look very plain! They screwed up the rear end with those tucked in tail pipes in my opinion. The nose design looks forced. Its like they took the 3G and forced the nose of the 4G on it and plastered the jewel eye headlights on it.

The overall design still looks like the concept, but color seems to make a dramatic difference in the appearance of the car. Both colors that are too light and too dark seem to hide much of the detailing that made the concept's body work stand out. Plus the decision to pull the white section of the taillight all the way out to the edges was a mistake because it throws the taillight proportions off somewhat, making them appear tiny overall. The car is definitely calling out for a body kit of some kind and I suspect that the dealer installed kits will be a surprisingly hot seller.

Overall, it lacks the visual pop of the concept, although I suspect some of that is in part due to the tiny wheels and the lack of color. To me, it feels like the production TLX is more or less an evolution of my TSX as opposed to an evolution of the TL, which might not be a bad thing. I just hope that they make a few final detailing adjustments and offer the right color options to help highlight the cars character lines.

Also, if these are indeed the 4-cylinder models, I question the reasoning to keep the dual exhaust outlets when they are not exposed. I cannot believe there is any performance benefit and the added weight of an extra muffler just seems unnecessary.

Finally, those wheels are just downright hideous. Too complicated on for a car that has such simple character lines.

 

It looks more like the 3G TL than a 4G which is not a bad thing but not good either. The front looks great but the rear is definitely not as aggressive as I'd like.

The interior looks OK to me. Not as luxurious as others in the class.

 

Actually I would say it looks more like an ILX than any gen TL.

 

It looks pretty much what I thought it would look like.

 

I think the wheels look good on the white one myself. But as mentioned above the concept colour really is the one that makes the body lines stand out imo.

 

It looks like a TSX with upgraded lights. Kind of small looking on the outside from the pics, i like it either way. This looks like a base model to me. I like that the dimples on the door handles match the color of the car.

 

Stupid to put incandescent fog lights with LED headlights. And yes I don't know that for sure, but I bet they don't spend the money to make LED fog lights standard.

 

Does the RS7's wheels look any better (with lower bumpers, skirts and larger wheels)?



So far this car is a tough cookie to 'fix'.

Hope Acura accessories takes care of some things.

 

Everything looks decent to me other then the rear. The absence of exhaust tips + the massively tamed down rear makes it look much less aggressive. I'll reserve final judgement till I see it in person, but in a decent color w/ some type of aero kit for the rear and larger wheels I think it could look decent. Overall decent job for Acura, I think it looks better then the previous generation TLs.

My lease is up in November and I will not get a 15 TLX if it looks like that. The rims are awful! The look... boring!

 

kind of disappointed on the design. it's too tuned down to my liking. it looks like a slightly larger ILX from all angles.

 

I actually like this TLX (possible) production version A LOT!! I will definitely be getting one in the next couple of years. I love the white color and the wheel design too.

The rear is okay, I do agree that exposed tail pipes would make it look so much more agreessive. Hope they interior has a two tone combinations like the 3G TL as opposed to just all one color.

 

Wow...what a difference the wheels make. I hope that the ones on the spyshots are just the base car and that Tech and Advanced models will have different wheels, much like the RLX variants currently offer.

needs better wheels and the body kit from the prototype. If I pick one up in a couple years it will get the same color matched grill treatment my '12 received

 

I hope this is for v4 version. then v6 sh-awd has better wheels & blade-looking white LED like prototype.

 

I bet RS7 wheels cost a fortune. But they're pretty close to the Prototypes so I guess if people want them and have the money they'll get them and bore them out.

 

The wheels I'm using are the RS7's "21" 5-spoke-blade design wheels with black finish" and cost $1000 on the build and price website.

They're not yet listed on the Audi Accessories webpage.

I don't know if 21's will fit on a TLX with decent amount of tire without rubbing...

 

I dont like 20+ inch rims. I like 19 inch best for my taste.

 

I wonder what else is out there that looks similar but isn't over 20 inches.

 

I might try the 20" ZDX wheels.

Yes that looks a hell of a lot better, but now it looks like the 3G with jewel headlights.

 

Yeah the 3G had some squinty looking headlights. These Jewel eyes looking like they are squinting remind me of the 3G as well.

 

Since I'm waiting for the 2016 V6 SH-AWD version my hope is that they make some necessary "tweaks", like wheels and different front and rear bumper covers.

 

Lately, unless they introduce a new model (TL Special Edition for example) wheel changes only happen at MMC (if then). The 2G TSX for example, has used the same rim for 6 years with only a finish change.

 

And those wheels look too damn tiny on my car. I liked that the RLX finally went with a properly set up wheel and tire package so I hope that the TLX does the same.

 

Someone asked for A3 wheels on TOV, share them here as well.

 

Its better than the 09-11, but its bland. The headlights look too small and to me dont flow well, the rear really needs the exhaust showing (like in the chop) and hopefully like others have said there will be wheel options. Those wheels dont do the car any justice.
