Part of the TLX Club?

When I was (much much) younger I bought a 1974Fiat Spider - a tiny little convertible that had a cool real-wood interior (wooden steering wheel!) and the first time I drove past another one (didn't happen often ) the driver waved at me. So I started to do the same and would wave and smile anytime I passed another Spider. 90% of the time the other driver would do the same and I realized that we had an unwritten agreement that we were all very cool people as a result of buying this cool little car and as such we all belonged to the same club! This was pre-internet days and there were no forums to interact with other like-minded peoples back then - so waving at my fellow Spider drivers was all I could really do.

So I'm wondering - do you plan on waving to other TLX drivers who pass you by or is our car not unique/cool enough for anyone to really give a crap about the other like minded people?

I've yet to pass one (maybe someday!!) but I think I will give it a try - at least for the first couple times just to see what happens.

<---------Lives in the south where its common to wave regardless of vehicle make.

you can also acknowledge an oncoming car by flashing your lights at it.

any one of these ways will let the other driver know you said hi.
it'll be up to the other driver to know what he or she drives to make it an unwritten rule.

I usually do a thumbsup as that's a better indication of "cool car/i like your ride" than a wave or a double flash.

Don't flash your lights in Miami. You may get shot for starting road rage. A wave will work but use all of your fingers.

When I got my '04 TL there weren't many of us on the road yet. One day another TL pulled up alongside on the highway, and the driver and I oogled each other's cars as we both smiled and gave a thumb's up. My Mom was sitting in the passenger seat and she was amazed. She asked me if I was in some sort of private TL club, she had never seen car owners acknowledge one another like that.

Still have a 4G TL and every time I see one I try to acknowledge with a wave or head nod or something. 99% of the time the person driving the other TL is oblivious to my presence. I just try to acknowledge other Acura owners in general but apparently, most are too preoccupied to notice.

Man, I remember in the 80's or 90's when flashing your headlights would get you shot as part of gang initiation.

It's why I duck whenever my DRL's switch to headlights as the sun goes down.

Jeep Wrangler drivers regularly do this with hand waves. Yes, Ii will wave at another TLX driver, if I ever see one passing in the opposite direction.

Still have yet to see a TLX on the road in my neck of the woods. It is not like I am driving some super rare car, so I will not be waving, but maybe a little chin nod.

Sorry Justn - if you have to ask you clearly don't have clearance - as such we're not able to divulge that kind of information...

Most people driving a 4G seem to be old, so I don't wave nor do I get acknowledged (and mine isn't stock by any means), even other modified TL's. I will always give a thumbs up to a well done car though, regardless of make.

But it's crazy whenever I ride in my friends WRX, it seems every other WRX or STI on the road will acknowledge one another. So funny.

I can't remember if it was the same in Florida, but in the Midwest a head light flash (number of times doesn't matter) usually means there's a Cop just down the road waiting to catch people speeding. If you do this, most people will wave as a sign of gratitude.

Definitely! It kind of reminds me of how Honda was in the late 80's and early 90's. Before the company took off like wild fire and everyone had to have one. I believe my parents had the first 3rd Gen Honda Accord LXi (that I talked them into buying) in our small Ohio town. I remember people asking me "What is that?" For the time, the 1988 Honda Accord, with it's pop-up headlights actually had some cool-factor in the midsize sedan market.

You'd see people on the Interstate and they'd thumbs-up you. You felt like a family that shared a secret. "No one else has figured out how awesome these are yet."

I digress though. I haven't seen another TLX on the road yet. I've only been stalked by TL drivers, who want a good look at it and have nodded to me.

That's exactly what a headlight flash around here means.

I do the thumb's up, which generally suffices. Unfortunately, my clubs are more exclusive than yours , so I rarely get the opportunity to thumb-up. There are zero other RLX hybrid owners in Cleveland, and CTS-Vs are just uncommon.
