^^ The decision has been made....I am just not revealing what it is until it arrives

As far as why I am hanging around....I have been an Acurazine member for a while and have to come to appreciate the people that hang around here. I am a car fanatic and it is great to interact with people and their passion for vehicles. Besides....regardless of whther I bought the TLX or not, we still have the ILX so I am an Acura owner and always will be just because of my relationship with the dealer.

^^ Oh, so we keeping secrets now are we! Well let me guess, it is one of those custom spec German cars with a 4 month time from order to delivery. I know that wait time is killing, but trying to contain the secret will be even harder. Spare yourself some agony and share so that we can help you pass the time.

I really think some of you computer experts should find out what other forums weather is frequenting - maybe that would help us narrow down the choices a bit

^^ That is the sad parts about cars these days....It is hard to get that perfect car and I will add that relying on other people's opinion can also affect your happiness. Sometime, people buy a vehicle with expectations that aren't realist....some car magazines hype things quite a bit sometimes.

For example....I absolutely love the g/f little 2.0L ILX yet EVERYONE seems to think the car is a POS. The g/f and I test drove it and we certainly appreciated and the more I drive it, the more I like it. The same thing for the TLX, I didn't base my decision on what other people experienced or thought of the car....I test drove it and knew what I needed in the TLX and for what I was looking for, it didn't quite deliver.

At the end of the day, whether its the Cadillac, BMW, Audi, Acura or Lexus....the biggest reason people get upset or disappointed is not in the car itself but in their decision to purchase something without having formed their opinions on what they experienced, or didn't do enough of their homework.

That is my 2 cents of course

^^ Might I also add that some base their buying decisions on the opinions of others..ie. wanting to impress others and then are disappointed when they don't get that "WOW" factor from whom they are trying to impress.

^^ Exactly!! That is why I applaud people for taking teh time to test drive the vehicle they want to purchase and don't seek the advices of people. I don't have a problem with people wanting to validate or inquire about the vehicle but at the end of the day, an informed consumer is a happy consumer

Not me; love it very much! Yes mileage is disappointing and it's snug but glove comfy, but the thrill of driving it is so much more. Really feels like a cross between an RSX / TLX. Weather, come to the dark side!

I talked to my dealer yesterday to check on the estimated delivery date of my car. I am concerned about getting delivery before the January 5, 2015 cut off date of the Advantage program. The dealer said that their dealership would still honor the Advantage program discounts even past the Acura published cut off date. They have a lot of shawd orders that have not yet come in and want to let their customers know they will honor the promised discounts no matter what happens with delivery dates or Acura corporate participation.

This could be it's own thread but I won't clutter things up..

UPDATE on my car.. It arrived from Florida yesterday morning..

Yay, right?

Well, No! The transport driver had an accident on the way and the car was damaged.. broken right taillight, a scratch on the bumper and a dent that looks like it can be popped back out.

I was told it would take another 4-5 days until the repairs are made, then we will discuss the price with discount for damage.... sigh

I cannot use the words on this forum to describe your predicament.

Man, I feel so sorry for you. I know how long you waited and I know the frustration of getting this far.

Thanks!

It's just become a comedy, a near tragic one. The Case of the Wayward TLX

I do have to say that I just LOVE the color combo of the car. They had the car out front when I pulled up and I parked near it... my pants nearly got tight when I saw it shining in the sun and didn't even see the dent at first.

One a positive note, the dealer peeled off the cheesy stuck on pin striping before I got there

Yes, I am more than a bit frustrated but, I do know I will have a unique car with quite a saga behind it .. I basically decided that I have 2 choices, accept things an chill or get mad. Since things are out of my control...

^^ OH MAN!! I feel so badly for you! I admire your understanding and willingness to accept a car that will be repaired. For me, I'd wait and get an unblemished vehicle but you have waited so long already so I know its not really an option.

You made me laugh about your pants comment! (lol)

I think its rated city mileage is something like 18 or 19 mpg. That and the "old school" buttons are the 2 reasons I decided not to get one. Actually had the mileage been better, I still would've bought it. It could be worse... it could be the ATS where you don't know what kind of mileage you get. lol. The ATS is a nice looking car, though. Almost bought that one, too.

Good luck with the situation. This definitely works out your self control. At least you know your car exists and you are so much closer to actually receiving it.

The situation is becoming so ridiculous that if there is one more incident that they will be paying you to take the car, or any car! You patience is amazing and everyone can learn some lessons from you.

Oh yeah, it is a case of over-the-top ridiculous but what choice do I have? There simply isn't any other SH-AWD Advance in either BCP or BWP with expresso that can be had now. I can wait for the BWP I originally ordered to arrive on the 16th or see what kind of discount they give me on this one or wait for another BCP/Exresso.

I am curious to see how much they will take off for the damage and mountain of hassle I've had.

Unbelievable chain of events. Beautiful car and color from the driver's side....lol. Someone backed into the rear side of the '05 TL I used to have and the damage was strikingly similar to what I see in your picture. After the repair, it wasn't noticeable at all. Keep us posted on what you're going to do. Best wishes to you.

^^ And your bias and observations are always welcome. As for your weakness, a hot Russian blonde in car ads is just another one? The color of car don't matter then! Dah!

So far 2 tanks of suburban city has been 15-16 mpg; the 3g TL is 17-19. The MID instantaneous says 20-25 is possible cruising. Well, 13% more HP is 13% less mpg right?

Stew, I really feel for you. But it's not too bad. I remember once seeing an Accord wagon on the carrier with its back window blown out.

Those 2nd / 3rd pics really show off the bronze / coffee hue!

The GM told me the transport driver had 18 stitches in his head and suffered a lot of damage to his truck.

I do like the way the pearl works with this color combo.

I would actually be more pissed if that damage occurred after I had taken ownership. The new sales price from the dealer should be really good to compensate you for its reduced resale value down the line. You know where you go to sell or trade the car and the price drops by a grand when it is discovered that it has had bodywork. It make no difference to drive-ability just the perception.

The photos highlight a different hue that I have not seen with my car. Really stunning. It must be the Texas sun!

STEW! OMG this is just a continuation of this clusterfsck. I am so sorry to read about this! Thankfully, that particular type of damage is easy to repair.

even so...

Thanks!

Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me,
Other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange, trip it's been.

You put in a lot of time already, personally I would wait for a fresh one; no damage & post recall.

Sorry to hear about this, it looks like $1500 in damage to me. IMO, sacrifice the Brown interior for Ebony and get a different BCP car.

There is another chapter to come. The car is repaired in 4 days, but cannot be delivered because of the "Stop Sale" hold for the parking lock recall. Another 1 week delay. Sorry, just trying to readjust your expectations.

But when the car is delivered it will be perfect. He will be so ecstatic that he will go for a 24 hour test drive, and all the angst and frustration will be washed away and just a distant memory.

According to the sales manager, there is no stop sale. Supposedly, the cars affected are the FWDs?

I agree. You're dropping some serious $$ for this car - I would want a perfect one off the truck.
