New TLX: Interesting Things/Settings
I’ve been reading this forum for a while, decided to join.I purchased a new TLX SH-AWD Advance SSM two weeks ago.I’ve previously owned a 02 TL, 04 TL and 04 TSX.For other comparisons, I’ve also owned: 05 S2000, 09 ISF, 12 IS350 and 13 GS350 among others (I’m a recovering car addict).
Love the TLX so far, great MPG, quiet, comfortable and great seats.Nothing new to share that has not already been reviewed and shared here. However, I did think it would be nice to share a few interesting things I didn’t know at first and had to find in the manual (or read here).Maybe others could add some things that are not readily apparent for us new owners.
IDS: can be set to default in Normal or Sport (not Eco or Sport +)
ACC/LKAS:“beeps” can be turned (and other adjustment) in car settings (ACC beep got old fast)
Receiving text with iPhone (5s):BT (phone) settings must be changed to allow notifications.Be sure to have your screen off on iPhone when testing or it will not come in.
Trunk has bit more storage with Advance package (more of a deep pocket)
Auto Start/Stop:Can be turned off, must have a bit of pressure on brake pedal to activate, deactivate by easing off brake or slight tug of steering wheel (more scenarios are discussed in manual).
Holding + paddle from stop will hold 2nd gear (for snow).
Speed dial numbers show up in Multi Information Display by pushing talk button.
In US, only one key has remote start with Advance
Finally, a note about Silver Slate Metallic:I was shocked seeing the blue hue in person, did not realize that from the pictures online. But, other times it looks grey or bright silver. An interesting color that seems to change in different light.

Congrats! It's gorgeous!
Also, thanks for note about the text notifications. On my iPhone 6, I'll receive notifications in the RLX but not in the TLX, which I'm sure has the same software. (Not thread jacking, just hadn't seen (or really looked) it anywhere else!)

Beautiful car, nice color. I still haven't seen a color that doesn't look amazing. I'm biased a bit, but I think too many people were wrong when they said that the TLX is a bland looking car.
Hope you're having as much fun as I am trying to learn all the new goodies!!

I think it's a natural response to the build up - we wait and wait and hope for the next coolest design - then when it's finally rolled out we have a bit of let down (hey - it doesn't look a bit like the Mach 5) which leads to the fanboys EXPRESSING their disappointment which tends to drown out everything else.
Then - given time - we come to appreciate it for what it is - a sporty looking sedan for grown-ups.
