Looking for Advice information on TLX 2015.
Hello guys.
I'm new to this forum and in the market to purchase a 2015 TLX v6 tech. I've read countless post about that venison having different types of issues since the car as been release. Issues like...
1) The P button doesnt register and could cause the car roll.
2) hard shift between 1st -2nd and/or 2nd -3rd.
Can anyone who is currently owning a tlx v6 give me your review on the car and problems if there is any? Kinda nervous to purchase a new car just to have it sit in the service shop.

2. The shift between 1-2 happens so fast that it's barely noticeable. The 2-3 shift is the one people complain about (some think that it's the 1-2 when it's really the 2-3 according to Acura's regional rep). I find the 2-3 shift to be solid. It's not jarring and doesn't happen all the time.
Go test drive one or two V6's. Take your time. Take several test drives. You won't know the car in just a 10 minute drive around a few blocks.

1. That only happened to a handful of cars within a certain manufacturing date range and has been thoroughly addressed by Acura. I do not recall one Acurazine member posting that they had this issue.

It took a bit but we got a loaner TLX for a day. While we didnt purchase it, I did appreciate the chance to drive it around our normal activities.
The 10 minute test drive we had done at the dealer didnt really reveal much of anything about the car (you cant exactly have "that kind of thrill" with the salesman sitting in the back seat).
The day of carting the kids around, going shopping, etc. was a whole lot more informative.

As Stew said, the parking brake issue was very early on and it should have been remedied by now.
The second issue is more of a known characteristic by some members. I personally have no issues with the shifts and I only really notice the upshifts if I really try to fixate on them. I'm very happy with the way the car shifts and I have no concerns with them.
I agree that the best way is to drive at least 1 and, if possible, drive a few different TLXs. The best way to determine how the car drives is to drive it.
Unfortunately, a lot of people seem to read the comments on forums and go with a preconception of how it will drive before they actually drive it. If you test drive and agree that it isn't what you want, drive another to verify or keep looking. Lots of choices out there.

I was driving my 2014 MDX the other day and I noticed that many of its shifts are as rough as 2-3 on my TLX. The only reason you notice it more on the TLX is that all the OTHER shifts are so smooth you can barely tell they are happing.
We love our TLX. My only problem with it at this point is that it loves to fly and is happiest at 85-90mph, and I really have to watch it!

Thank you everyone so far for providing me with all your experiences! I have test driven the tlx beforehand the shift feels smooth to me and there wasn't anything noticeable but then again it was only a 20 min drive. I feel a lot better about making this big purchase soon

Like Stew4HD said, issue # 1 affected a limited number of vehicles. Mine was not on the recall list and I have not had the problem. Issue #2 is more on 2nd -> 3rd gear shifting. My experience is that the shift was more smooth when the 2nd gear is running above 3000-3500 rpm when I was driving in Econ mode. I don't recall the hard shift in Sport/Sport+ mode. HTH.

Then again it might not be as hard as I'm imagining it to be and plus my current car (2004 Mercedes e320) has an annoying 3 jerk hard shift from 1 to 2. So I'm fairly used to these hard shifts. Everything about this car so far is a blessing compared to my old ride

I notice the hard shift from 2nd to 3rd on my V6 tech FWD is more prominent in Sport mode especially under an aggressive acceleration and not so much in Normal. I don't drive in Econ, and when in Sport+ I'm on the paddles.....
Now in my 3rd month of ownership, this car has really grown on me and can be a blast to drive when pushed hard, as well as a really comfortable, quiet and refined ride at nearly 80 mph on the highway.

It has been done. I bought the tlx in white pearl! I just want to thank each and everyone that replied on this thread that helped me finalized my purchase . Next step is to give the car a few mods to make it look clean... You know.. body kit... tinted windows.. decklid. I'm not liking the current body kit offered at acura and so far it seems to be the only one out there.
