June Sales:
Passenger Cars Join Light Trucks in Boosting American Honda June 2015 Sales - Acura News
3,986.
The ILX hit 1,662.
Also of note - the RDX sold over FIVE THOUSAND and the MDX was just over 4,500 - the SUV segment continues to kill it.
One person bought a new TSX. One person bought a new ZDX.
Fun stuff.

"Acura sedans led AHM's June increase, gaining 107.9 percent on sales of 5,878............................Acura sedans ....................doubling last year's June sedan sales total on the strength of TLX and ILX. Overall Acura sales totaled 15,527, lifting the brand 38.6 percent in June. Not to be outdone, Acura's RDX captured yet another sales record in June while MDX remained in high demand, though somewhat capacity constrained.Overall, Acura truck sales were up 15.2 percent with sales of 9,649 vehicles.
TLX sales continued to gain momentum, nearly reaching 4,000 units again.
ILX took a sharp upward turn with a record June performance, gaining 79.1 percent on sales of 1,662. Acura sedan sales totaled 5,878 in June, a 107.9 percent increase.
The recently refreshed RDX continued to resonate strongly with customers, up 45.1 percent on sales of 5,056 for its best June on record. "
Not bad overall. The better the bread, and butter vehicles do, the more likely we are to get some A-spec, Type-S, halo type products.

That's what Mendel was aiming for. Not going to happen. But we already knew that.

NEW ORLEANS -- Acura says the new TLX sedan can become the brand's volume leader, a role once occupied by its predecessor, the TL sedan.
Recalling the days when annual TL sales consistently topped 60,000, John Mendel, American Honda's executive vice president of sales, said after Acura's make meeting here: "We can clearly see TLX adding that kind of volume to the Acura franchise."

The sales numbers look OK....but what I dont get is how every Acura dealer near me has at least 40 TLXs listed in stock.
It sounds like they produced the 60K they want to sell, but havent even put a dent in whats left. The 16s will presumably be out in a few months.....how many 15s do they plan to sell in those few months?
My only thought is there must be some pretty good deals to be had (in fact I got a quote of 42,500 for a V6 AWD Advance without even trying, thats already 664 under invoice, and I could probably have done better if it turned out we wanted the TLX)

Acura says June sales gained 107.9 percent over the prior year. Really great marketing spin. They are telling the truth but ignoring they were selling against a discontinued model in its last months that had few takers.
What's more to the point is that the opening TLX full months sales back in September 2014, despite low inventory & V6 availability, was only 102 units short of the 2015 number. June 2015 was actually short 904 units compared to the cars second full month again despite low inventory.
Instead of celebrating senior management should be kicking the TLX marketing groups collective butts for possible mis-positioning the thrust of the marketing campaign.
The have a good product at a good price & can't seem to get any traction, pun intended, offering it in performance oriented commercials. They should have recognized they have no street cred with the performance buyer.
Running a couple of GT cars with the motor in the front seat is not going to get that done for them.

The car we were replacing is a 2003 TL, which the wife loved, so our goal was something close to it. The TLX fell short....a little smaller in back, too sporty for her tastes, etc.
Just for the heck of it we looked at what Acura WOULD be similar to it, and the only answer is the RLX. A $55K-60K car.
I drove the TLX for a few days and really wanted to like it, but I just couldnt. And I think thats where Acuras problem is: the TLX is trying to be what they replaced (TL + TSX) but it does neither of them as well as the originals did. At least not the gen of TL we have.
I feel like they still need a car between the TLX and the RLX. Something that can compete with the Maxima, ES350, etc. A little plusher ride and more room, but a little less sporty.

^I don't understand this view. How is the TLX too sporty?
- Is it because it has IDS modes (just set it in normal and forget it)
- Can't be for accelarations as so many write about delays when the accelerator is pressed
- Can't be for too many buttons as so many people complain that they want some dedicated controls
- Can't be for the seats as many complain that it they are not snug enough
I had a 2G Tl and liked it. Moved to a 3G TL and liked it more. Now have a TLX and it is the best so far for me.
Based on you comments is seems you should head directly to the ES350 sales office. Forget the Maxima.

The TLX is sporty....Acura markets it as sporty...it LOOKS sporty. The ride FEELS sporty. All fine and dandy, except my wife doesnt WANT sporty.
I *do* want sporty, thats why my car is a G37. Its Infiniti's "that kind of thrill" car, but its actually thrilling. Not an attempt at replacing the Altima and Maxima with something somewhere in between.
She wants what her 2G TL is: fairly luxurious ride, decent room inside. Since we "skipped" all the other generations of TL, perhaps we missed out on it's gradual migration to a more sport-luxury vehicle and that just gets amplified now that whats left is the TLX.
I was hopeful for the TLX, honestly, because I feel it gives a better bang for the buck and is obviously more up-to-date than the ES350. But its her car, so Id rather have her choose what she likes best to drive for the next 10+ years.
There is no reason to be harsh here, unless everyone is just pi$$ed off that I gave both cars their day to shine and for our specific case the ES350 won out.
It's as expected. MDX is on sale for about 10 years, and TLX only less than 1 year old. The number of cars you see on street depends on total sales instead of monthly sales.
We did test drive one....it had a lot firmer ride than I was expecting. It might have been because of the wheels (18" w/lower profile tires), but the Lexus rode softer enough that it did make a difference. Plus there are some things you can get with the Lex that you cant with the Avalon and we happened to want some of those things.
The price difference is roughly what it used to be to go from a Honda Accord to an Acura CL/TL. Still a good car for the money, just not as big of a value vs performance winner as the TLX.

^^ Although I'm sure some people love the Juke, I agree that it is a fairly "unique looking" vehicle. I would almost give real money for a manufacturer to name a model of theirs the Fugly.
Introducing the 2016 Fiat Fugly, arriving at dealers near you very soon!!
Sorry to any Fiat owners, it just was more flowing that way and I work with a woman who has a brown Fiat 500 and we joke about it so .....
