Jewel Eye Cut Off

Jewel Eye Cut Off
Hey guys, just checking in if anyone has found a way to get a cleaner cut off line on our headlights. I have the Clear lens on my TSX and that thing is razor sharp and so clean. I'm thinking maybe the Eyes itself on our models will need to be changed?

Hmmm. I think most people prefer a more diffused cutoff, so there's not such a distinct difference between the brilliant light and the deep darkness.
I think Acura purposely created a little "light spray" at the top of the beam pattern to ease the visual transition from light to darkness.

Yup the Jewel eye is a great headlight very bright and outstanding, just trying to figure out if we can get the razor sharp cutoff like the TSX while keeping the same Jewel output and color.
compared to Mercedes and BMW the acura has a clean cutoff.

What's the reason you would like a sharper cutoff? What advantages does that confer?

cars that came with projectors usually have a frosted lens. you can swap out this lens for a clear one that will visually give a cleaner cutoff, because aesthetic reasons. the 3rd gen TL's bi-xenon projector was once the best in the biz.
However, projector lighting has been surpassed by LEDs and even Laser lights.
the OP is simply confused and wants something that is not available for his type of lighting hardware.
OP, if you want a sharper cut off, you will need to think about the problem and solve it by using a little bit of electrical engineering and the knowledge of LED/lighting properties. because you're the first one to think of this as a problem.
get to solving!

It's not a problem just something i got used to with the tsx. I still think it may be a matter of changing the lens, it not an issue but just looks clean. someone will probably come out with them in the near future.

the hardware, the jewel lights do not have a lens projecting light.
its a matter of knowing LED and lighting properties to figure out your problem.
a problem doesnt necessarily mean something is wrong, it means something you cant figure out.
you will need an electrical engineering background to work out your "problem"

nope not confused at all, probably phrased it wrong. the entire jewel eye Lens may need to be changed out to get a cleaner cut off. like I said it’s not a problem or an issue just a little mod to be done that I find interesting
and I quoted Lens because it’s on the Acura site and I believe behind the Jewel eyes the LED exists

did some searching and found this link as well so i pretty much got my answers from there

you're back peddling.
Now that you understand the technology behind it, each LED is behind its own special reflective lens.
its not as easy as swapping out a new lens for the old. because each one has its own purpose built reflective housing
again, if you want to solve this "problem" you'll need an electrical engineering background....
maybe there is a way to put more power through the LEDs to provide a sharper cutoff.

It was just a simple question to see if anyone else has thought of this or is in the works. Someone out there may begin to mod these headlights in the near future, we have members already doing retro fit which I performed on my 2002 TL (TSX projectors).
Some of us are not versed in the latest Technology these cars keep evolving on a daily basis with and rely on the forums to piece together ideas that can be done.
Never had a problem with these lights, love the output and color better than any Acura I ever owned.
Thanks for the thoughts.

If you mean you want a clearer HOUSING, you can only get that with a different plastic compound or by using glass (bad idea on the latter).
Your best bet is just to protect the lens with clear film so it doesn't get rock chips or sandblasting.
